All right folks. Nice to meet you all, gird yourselves.
Long time Klicker, First time Poster.
I’m looking at putting together a team to work on a turn based strategy game in the vein of X-com. But based in the Warhammer 40k universe. This is a totally un-official, un-paid game. I’m only expecting it to get worked on in during team member’s respective spare time.
The game: An un-official follow-up to THQ’s shooter “FIRE WARRIOR”. Revolving around the characters from the game and the novel of the same name. The player will be taking a squad of Tau Fire warriors into battle under the leadership of Kais, hero of the Novel. As they battle against the unrelenting forces of a wayward Tyranid splinter fleet. It will be a top-down isometric strategy game. Focus will be on squad based combat and maintenance. Looking at 4 locations with 3 maps each. 12 levels in total. 3-4 different hero units. 5 enemy units (Plus palette swaps). 4 equip able weapons.
This is a BIG AMBITIOUS PPROJECT. However I am very determined to see it in a completed form. That’s why I’m putting this call out; I KNOW I can’t do this myself.
I’m looking for team-mates who are as excited about this project as I am. And will be in for the long run. BY my ignorant estimate I figure around a 9 month development time. I will be handling some of the sprite work, writing the story, creating art for cutscene's, and various other jobs that I'm sure will crop up. I'll also be acting as art Director.
The posts I’m looking to fill are:
-2+ Graphic artists.
Artists will work with me to create the characters, Enemies, effects, interface backgrounds ect. I’m providing an example of what I’ve done thus-far as what I’m shooting for. Artists would also be responsible for the creation of any website graphics.
If you’re interested point me at some samples of your work.
-2+ Musician/Sound engineer.
Gritty, intense combat music in the tradition of the 40K license. For me, music and audio effects are the subliminal key to pulling a player fully into the gaming experience.
If you’re interested point me at some samples of your work.
-1+ coder.
I’ve had some success with coding in MMF, but I don’t kid myself. I’m a rank amateur. Give me pixels to push and I’m a happy man. Give me lines of code to de-bug and I curl into a very tight morph ball and roll away. I need a person (or persons) willing to take on probably the most important roll of this project. Having fantastic art assets and music are great. But integrating them into a game that will be enjoyable to play is another. I need someone who feels confidant in creating this turn based engine, dealing with enemy A.I (Rudimentary, that’s why I choose the tyranids. <G> and helping to craft an interface that’s simple, elegant and user-friendly. If you’re interested point me at some samples of your work.
-1 Web page designer/admin.
Nothing would make me happier than to make this game an event. A showpiece for all those involved to puff out their chests for, and use as a portfolio piece. Having a snappy web-page with forums news updates, D/L’s ect... then, is an absolute nessescity. I’m willing to buy the URL and provide the Space. But I want someone with more experience to handle the technical side of things. If you’re interested point me at some samples of your work.
About me:
I’m a 26 year old digital animator from Ottawa Canada. I’ve been working in 2D Digital animation for 4 years now. Credits include various commercial work and 2 children’s television show. Mischief City: shown here in Canada on YTV. And Gerald McBoing Boing, which just aired in the US and Canada. On Cartoon Network and Teletoon respectively. I’ve been Klicking since I read about Klick ‘n’ Creates release in a PC magazine, and been lurking in the community for about as long. I’m an avid console and PC gamer, Table-top war gamer and artist.
That’s about all I can think of at this moment in time. However ANY useful insight will be greatly appreciated. Please PM me with any comments, or post them here I suppose.
Check out: http://www.furnation.com/gammen/pixelart/FWIDLE.gif For an example of what I'm looking for graphics wise. It's a Tau fire-warrior Idle, It took around 8 hours to complete.
P.S. If anyone can point me at a good GIF Animator I'd be greatful, I'm exporting them with flash, and it's causing strange artefacts to appear.
Reap what you sow.

If you want me too I think I'll have time to do some music for this project. Check out the digital works section and there is a topic called Jesters Tale midis or something. There you can find some of my work for an adventure game. I think I could do music to fit this game too

there's very few expert MMF users left, and most of them don't visit this website. If you're not planning on doing much coding anyways, do yourself a favor and visit www.gamedev.net and ask for coders of any format. Blitz Basic would be a good bet. That'll widen your odds of finding willing people immensly and also make the game much less resource intensive (As MMF is the highest level programming tool around, it's also the slowest).

Im really interested in doing some graphics for the game, as I have always wanted to make a warhammer 40 000 game myself. Cant see your example sprites, so Im not sure what youre after, but post here or send a DC mail with more info if you are still working on this.
