yeh thats EXACTLY what I hate about it
the iPod seems to be an alright product or probably even the best thing outside
but i HATE IT because I hate apple
their politics are crap
no wma support? how awful
PLUS You HAVE to use iTunes
its a bit crap. i mean it looks nice but its replaced the iPod mini range. so where £150 got you a 6gb Mini you now have pay £160 for a 4gb Nano. and the battery life is 14 hours compared to the Mini's 18-26 hours.
it is very tiny though. half the thickness of the Mini and half as light.
theres no doubt it will sell like hot cakes, stick iPod on any MP3 player and its destined for sales. i just wish they hadn't killed off the Mini
did anyone see the iTunes phone (Motorola ROKR)? now thats crap.
I don't care that iPods can't play WMA. WMA? A format which can have DRM to limit exactly when and how many times you can listen to a song? What a fucking great idea. MP3 is getting outdated now, replaced by MP4/M4A, which is what iPods play. An unprotected and good quality format.
There's a "Win a free iPod Nano" thing now too... I signed up for it, my friend got one for free... Might as well try.
(We didn't even put in credit cards either, we fooled them good, yo)

Tigs, I didn't say WMA was the best format in the world, I said most of my files are encoded in it (and let me assure you there's no DRM on them) so the hassle of encoding them to a better format would be too great to warrant purchase of an iPod.
on the OSX iTunes at least dragging WMA's converts them to M4A/AAC automatically, and copies them to the iTunes music folder. all nice and organized like. or it plays WMA but converts on the fly when you put them on your iPod. i forget. its been at least 2 years since i touched a WMA file.
