Yes, the noobs will build an army and destroy all of us. ALL OF US.
"Actually sir, we found a tiny unicorn in your exhaust. It was jumping around poking holes in your gas tank." "Oh thank you I did not know that. A tiny unicorn? Wow."
hopefully mmf2 and tgf 2 will be such a big success and overpower mmf 1.6 that itll drop in price drastically. hmmm...i would buy mmf 1.6 if that happened.
It's not sure there will be a 3D extension. It has been on hold for over a year, becasue of limitations in current SDK. Turboferret had to divide it up in to 8 different extensions, because each extension can't have more than 80 Actions, conditions and expressions. If there will be a 3D extension, it'll definately be a while after MMF2's release.
I really like using the Half Life 2 editor. It is really easy to use and the results are spectacular. I'm not saying MMF2 needs an engine like Source, but some sort of build in 3D engine with customisable textures and characters would be nice. If TGF2 and MMF2 aren't going 3D, where are they going? If you put your mind to it, you can do almost any sort of 2D game you want on MMF1. Apart from more directions, what else does TGF2 and MMF2 support? Are you going to be able to make different games on it?
Well, they didn't want to hold up the release of MMF2 until they finished the addon. I think they just started it and aren't expecting it to come out for a LONG time (over a year).
What's the idea of MMF2, then? What does it expand on if it stays 2D? And will it be better for making games? How? What makes it better? Help, the question marks are attacking me?
MMF2 has a lot of smaller features that come with it, like the ability to save AVI files with the screen capture object, and a more organised extension manager.
You can already make games that compete with "real games", assuming you're talking about commercial games. But it all really depends on you, your team, and the effort you put into making your game.

omg, do some research! MMF2 has been built from scratch with loads of new features, extensions and stuff. TGF2 is just MMF2 without lots of features (works and layout is the same)
The 3D extension is a 3rd party extension and at the conference a messege was passed on that he has dis-continued his extension until the new SDK is out (due to limitations as the pther dude said)
MMF2 and TGF2 are aimed for being released in Xmas, and is great (owning the BETA copy)
Furthermore they are going to stop selling TGF and MMF as they dont want people using them as they find them too error prone and think MMF2 and TGF2 are much better (just a marketing decoy so they make more money )
