I'm making a game in the same style of "Castlevania: Circle of the Moon" for the GBA and have a problem. I need to figure out how to make it so when you hit the attack button at the end of an attack, it will start to string together a combo. Prolly just like, four or five combos at max or maybe I'll have it so you have to earn an extra attack in your combo, kinda like leveling up. Just wondering if anyone knows how to help with this. Also the different attacks are all gonna have a different animation, not just the same one over and over. Thanks!

Counters. Use a counter to limit attacks (say, it's set to 45 when an attack is used and counts down quickly), and within some tolerance a second press will trigger the next event in the sequence (say, you can't attack while the counter is >10, but a keypress between 1 and 10 will trigger the next attack, and a press on 0 will start the combo over).
