Which is better? I've been working on a new Elf World engine and I used to Platform extension. I'm terrible at making engines, so being the lazy fool that I am, I decided to cheat and use the extension.

What do you think would work better? The engine supports swimming, springs, and convaer* belts.

I heard the extension was just as hard as coding it yourself

There is no difficulty in coding a custom platform engine lol, however, a custom engine will always be better than any form of pre-coded engine, as long as you code it right anyways. Custom engines allow you to do pretty much whatever you want within the limitations of, in this case, TGF/MMF. If you find the platform extension is easier, works good, isn't buggy, and does what you want it to do, then that would be better than having to code your own custom one. Especially if you aren't good at doing custom engines.

One of the problems with the extensions is that it screws up the animation. The walking and stopped animations switch off. Sometimes the walking doesn't work at all. Falling doesn't turn off.

I'm working on it...until I get better at making a real engine.

If you want any help with custom engine stuff I will be glad to give some guidance though I might not be able to give it my full attention as I am working on a project myself

Actually, I'm positive that Dalal platform engines are much better than Phizzy ones. But anyway, here's the deal:

If your game has a very advanced movement (like my upcoming game), than forget the Platform Movement Extension. If your game has simple platform movement, than just go ahead and use the extension. No real need to make a custom one.

I don't get the choice, I have to make my own. And i'm rather good at it even if I do say so myself.

The platform object surely must be easier, otherwise what's the point?
