Grammar is very important. If you want anyone to understand you, that is. Spelling isn't vital but it's nice when people don't type like amputee speds.

On Instant Messaging and Chatrooms I don't mind typo's (or a few acronyms for that matter) but mails and forum posts are a different story. Take your time to reread your post a bit and check for spelling errors.
