I'm just finishing off the dynamic lighting feature of my engine. It uses a combination of full screen lighting and dynamic volume shadows. It supports coloured lighting (thats why the screen is tinted red- red light ) and multiple light sources.

The game engine is coming along but I don't see it coming out for a while yet. I have been doing a devlog- it's very detailed and it might be difficult to understand but if anyone's interested the link is:

(sorry about the quotes, the DC auto link thing was misbehaving )

Hm, could you make a gif animation of the lighting in action, perhaps? That one screen doesn't tell me much at all.

You Sir, are a God when it comes to pushing MMF to its limits.

you can make a extention that by passes it, you can make an extention for MMF that can make it do anything

No it cant, because MMF will suffer crashes and performance slopes. MMF can be very limited when you compair it to a programming language.

really depends on how you do it extentions can make it not suffer much of a proformance slope
and if you do things right then it will not suffer crashes.

You could do everything perfectly, and MMF will still crash if you push it to far. As far as correctly programed extensions go, I strongly disagree. The alpha channel object is a very solid extension, but because of MMF's inability to run alpha channels smoothly, it suffers from performance drops. So no, no matter how well you do what you do, MMF 1.5 will still suffer, because it is very out of date. MMF2 will still have limitations in side by side with a programming language, but it will be able to withstand much more stress before it slows down or suffers performance slopes.

If you make an extension that does everything like an active object wouldn't you be able to have more than 10,000 active objects?

No, the object count includes anything that isn't a backdrop.

Nobody really thought that I used 640x480 1 pixel active objects and raytraced each and every one did they? Active overlays are the way forward people!

BillyBobJoe, yeah you can do pretty much anything in mmf, but creating a full 3d software renderer would never have an acceptable frame rate . The blue thing is another lightsource, but it's blue to show that it is currently not casting shadows.
