Wow. Just Wow. Sony seems to get worse every day! Although I still plan on picking up that nice new 46" TV of theirs. I just can't resist, even if the proceeds are going to the nazi party.

Oh yeah. I've seen that commercial once or twice, then it disappeared from TV. Luckily.
It's not racism. It's just depicting that the white PSP is newer and fresher than the black one, and is pushing the old one out of the scene.(If they were racist, why would the PSP be black in the first place?)
That's the thing with people these days, they look for the racism inside everything that could be racist.
The ad still is kinda really weird though. Does Anyone know whats in the woman's pocket? Drugs?
The white woman is shown in a superior position to the black woman. They would have been better off depicting it in some other way, for example using animals.
Most likely, but as we all know, some people look way to into these sort of things. I can tell you right now though, the person who shot those photos, has no idea what they are doing.
Then again I could say the same for half of hollywood, and about 98% of US TV shows -_-;
I actually wonder why people dwell on things like this. If it was intentional, then Sony would have just had a bunch of Klan members standing around, with the caption "White Power". I mean, nothing more white then a bunch of morons wearing their parents bedsheets to a hate rally...right?
Though I somtimes wonder had I been born a different race/color/whatever, would things be different?
Nahh, I'd still be here, lurking the forums and playing user made games
Ohno! The body floats!

It's funny how that site doesn't show the photo of the black person being 'superior' to the white person - over 100 photos were taken (and TV ad shot). So how it expresses racism is anyone's guess. People just taken political correctness too far in my opinion

Pretty much, as it had been the reverse, it's a pretty good bet not much would have come from it. Again, racism is really just in a persons mind, and if they think they see it all the time, in ads like this or superfical things, then the real problem is, they are probably just racsist, except now using the reverse angle to allow themselves to think they aren't racist.
Actually I'm one of the first people to be annoyed by black people saying everything is racist. I can't stand it. And I can see the point of "if it was switched around it wouldn't be a big deal" but look at that picture and consider that white people weren't the ones made slaves for hundreds of years, just the whole vibe of the positioning is offensive. Then there's the issue that while we use them all the time, "Black" and "White" aren't the most politically correct terms, so saying a black woman is a Pure Black DS and a white woman is the new sleeker version. . . Whether you find it racist or not, this was a horrible decision on sony's part, and how they could not predict that an image of a white woman standing above a black woman holding her face would stir people up is rediculous.
The only thing that can save sony now is A LOT and I mean A LOT of people suddenly buying HDTVs and going with $1000 bluray players as opposed to the name-recognized HD-DVD(at half the cost for a player I might add)(oh and backed by that little startup company that has its operating system on 95% of the world's computers). "Windows now includes built-in HD-DVD burning software" <<<<the words that would end bluray on the spot.
Sony's ps2 advertisments were completely nonsensical, they still sold ps2's quite well.
What i don't understand is that the blu ray players cost over $1000 but ps3's will be $600ish.
so... surely that would piss off retailers that have decided to stock blu ray players.

@AndyUK: 95 percent of ALL commercials are pure BULLSHIT. Just watch them all in one block and count how many are actually funny, useful, not irritating to watch or even relevant.
Yeah. It's showing that Budweiser has a humorous (sic) side, which makes the brand name seem more inviting, whilst at the same time poking fun at the Americans and embracing sport. Funny + Sporty + Friendly = Good time. And what does one need to have a good time? Beer.
So go on then, run off to the offie and get some cans in.
@Justin: What you're saying is that because white people enslaved black people a while ago means that racism against blacks from whites is somehow more "wrong"? If you can't see the ignorance in that, then there's really no hope for you.
@Phizzy: Stella used to be quite high class, but no more I'm afraid. Skol all the way for me...
When did I say it was more wrong? I am very annoyed at the double standard society has when it comes to talking about race. I didn't say I agreed that having a white woman holding a black woman's face was more racist than the other way around, but a lot of black people will see it that way, because they constantly consider that white people weren't the slaves of black people. In a perfect world we wouldn't be debating the ad, because color wouldn't be considered. Go at the people seeking reparations, not me.
The ironic thing is, people are not looking into history past a certain point. Not that this should be considered somthing to really debate over, because there are no winners here...and it's very depressing when you consider it all, but African Americans were NOT the only one's who were made into slaves.
This is the same as the person who thinks, only Jewish people were put into concentration camps.
This is a one sided view, and as I said before, it's more like using the past as a crutch, your own personal little soap box, where you can bitch and moan about everyone else, and claim that your just fine. Nope.
As I said before, when a person claims it's racist one way, but had it been the other way it would have been fine, that person is a racist in their own right. More so, this entire thing is just more bullshit coming from the "political correct" views. I mean no offense or anything, but when I was younger, I got my ass kicked many times by a group of apparently angry Black young adults, who claimed "my people was the reason the world was a shithole". Yes, so justify personal issues by playing race, and beating the shit out of someone who didn't want to fight back.
So one day I got tired, and I faught back. Guess what happened next...
I'm suspended from school, on the terms that out of racial hatred, I attacked a helpless African American student, out of rage against the Black community. My life was made into hell, until one of the kids aunts found out what really happend, and told the school, who in turn appolgised to me. Of course, their statement was hollow bullshit, but pay attention-
I was attacked by a group of angry racist Black kids. I was redeemed by the aunt of one of those kids, who was also Black. See the point? Race means nothing. It's who you ARE as a person, and it can't be played off on a skin color.
So all I need to say, has basically been said. I'm not a racist, and while...yes, those kids were, it doesn't mean I should hate or fear, or even loath other people who are Black...or Asian, or Spanish, or WHATEVER. It does not matter. I judge people by their actions. You could be a fucking alien from Neptune for all I care, as long as you do well in your life, from my views, then I have no complaints, and no reason to even think about harboring some sort of disrespect towards you, or your race/color/creed/etc.
Though should be noted that anyone who is outright racist with zero regard towards anyone around(See X-Member and his previews posted in the Preview section for more info), then I simply tell you to go fucking die...because the world just doesn't need anymore hate mongering fucktards.
@Justin: "And I can see the point of "if it was switched around it wouldn't be a big deal" but look at that picture and consider that white people weren't the ones made slaves for hundreds of years"
That is definitely insuinating that white towards black racism is somehow different to black towards white. And the slave business is in the distant past, so has no bearing on today's society (or shouldn't have). It'd be like all Christians hating Romans for the persecutions, or all Neanderthals hating Homo Sapiens... maybe that's taking it too far, but you get my drift.
@NeoHunter: The same thing happened to me, an Asian guy goes round calling me a "white bastard" for about three weeks, and when I finally snap and call him "black bastard", I immediately get called into the head's office. I'm not saying what I did was okay, it's just there's a lot of hypocracy (sp?) and double standards in both the media, the education system and in the general public view.
