I'm doing a remake of the Psygnosis game, Ballistix,
and it was doing fine until I pressed something.
Now the engine is really slow, and I can't figure out what it is.
My previous saved project is way behind, in programming,
so I'd appreciate it so much if someone could tell me what's going on..
I suspect some kind of a loop, or some runtime settings, but I didn't change
any of these...
I include here the two files (the old one which works fine and the new one which has slowed down, in case someone wants to take a look.
ftp://ftp.darksprite.chaos-rules.com/public_ftp/
or
ftp://ftp.darksprite.chaos-rules.com/public_ftp/MMF games.zip
er..
I fixed it. I still have no clue what's wrong, but I copy pasted all frame editor objects and all events to a new project, and now it works perfectly.
well, almost perfectly. Sometimes the ball goes crazy and gets more momentum than the bullets that hit it...
And anyway if there's someone who would like to collaborate on this project, I'm open to suggestions. I'm a painter, not a coder, and I only started coding this because I had a pretty good idea on how to create the engine.
It's a way-out in left field kind of guess, but did it have anything to do with your runtime settings like Direct X or # of objects at runtime? I had a problem with the Ninja Den level of Captain of the Guard for a long time because I didn't realize I had exceeded that frame's object quota. Everything slowed way down, and some objects didn't show up at all.
