I found PlanetSide pretty fun, you just have to find that kind of game enjoyable. Not everyone does. Worth $13/m but after a few months, you get bored.
As said, if it looks promising enough I'll give any game a go, no matter the filesize. I don't really see why there's such a big fuss about it, if you dl it and have a slow connection use DAP or something similar. If you didn't like it, delete it. No biggy.
Anyho, my suggestion would be to submit your game as is. With mp3 files and the whole enchillada, and in your description put a link to a demo where the first level is the only thing that's in it. It'll look and feel exactly as your fullblown game, but have a smaller filesize so that picky people can check it out before dl'ing the full game.
That's what I'm planning to do with my game, it'll have a whole lot of mp3 files, and possibly some avi's too. =P
Might double or more if the game is really good. But that's my comfortable limit for an unknown game. Double that someone suggests the game, maybe 10X if I really, really want it.
Release a small version without the cinematics if you want ppl do get it.
Disclaimer: Any sarcasm in my posts will not be mentioned as that would ruin the purpose. It is assumed that the reader is intelligent enough to tell the difference between what is sarcasm and what is not.
Yea, well thanks guys. I'm not going to worry about file size. I want the game to look damn good, even if it goes well over 1GB. I want to use it for portfolio quality so... I may upload a demo, hopefully will be under 100MB when it's ready.
