Hominis (or homo) means 'man' and pectoris means 'breasts'.

If I'm not mistaken, I thought Homo meant Same, hence Homosexual: Same Sex. And the opposite being: hetero for different. Heterosexual: Different.

I could be slightly off with hetero, but I'm almost 100% sure that Homo means same.

Homo in Latin is Men

This explains why the word Homo is applied to males, same sex. So in that respective, we were both right.
