Just recently a couple of TDCers have been a bit immature. (Not just members)
If you go look at the Death Of Novasoft topic (cba linking) and basically any other topic with phizzy posting in (like the Public Apology one), you'll know what I mean.
Now, I can understand Circy's reasoning for locking the "Death of Novasoft" topic to stop arguments, but his given reason is just immature. But I'm sure it'd be much better if Phizzy and he sorted it out in PM?
Seriously, stop with the fucknutting each other and just get over it. It's annoying to see you two bicker in topics.
I have to partly agree. One example is the hassle Circy has gotten recently, which I think is unacceptable. The admins/editors are here to do a job and they are doing it as volunteers. I think there are a few people who think they are "cool" if they don't follow follow rules and if they bash the admins.
I'm not going to single anyone out - it's a few people who seem to be having this attitude were they think everything Phizzy says is correct. By that I mean, if Phizzy says Circy must be bashed then these people believe it themselves. The amount of chances we've given Phizzy is enough I think - so I really do not understand why some people still persist to argue over it.
Obviously this isn't the only time people are being immature. I think people need to read the rules and realise that they are responsible for what they post on this forum or anywhere else on the site. The odd curse/swear word here or there won't hurt anyone - it's when you go around calling random people "fags" or whatever, that things get out of hand.
If anyone else wants to follow Phizzy's behaviour then we'll probably give you a warning - and if it persists we will ban you. This is the same action that was taken in Phizzy's case - so everyone will be treated the same. Feel free to joke around and be slightly immature - just don't be a complete idiot please
I agree Psycho - I actually couldn't find a link to the rules on the site (it's either not there, or very hard to find).
I don't think Clubsoft has got around to putting up the link yet though..
But yeah... I suppose it was mostly phizzys fault for directing attacks at Circy, and using any old excuse to have a go at him, but even so, Circy did retalliate. As an admin I feel he as the responsibility to enforce rules laid out, instead of starting a mini war against a member.
I haven't seen Circy retaliate to an extent that makes him a bad admin. He is the hardest working admin we have and if it wasn't for him this site would probably be run by Phizzy (that is a bad thing by the way ).
And if Circy did retaliate, that's only because Phizzy is annoying and attacks people non-stop - it's very difficult not to retaliate to somebody like Phizzy. If Phizzy actually listened to and respected us, and controlled his strange behaviour, I have no doubt that Circy would have put up with him. The thing is, Phizzy didn't want to do that - he just wanted to make out that Circy was a bad admin (even though it wasn't Circy who banned him).
The entire community works with a better atmosphere in the absence of Phizzy.. but there's still those who worship him who need to grow up. If I were an Admin, I'd at least ensure that people here were getting on well and if not - I'd want to know why.
Nobody wants to be a part of a community that slates off its own members and has a bad atmosphere towards everyone. Stupid topics aren't the problem here, but the people that start them. TDC has been going downhill for a while, but the gradient changed when Phizzy wasn't around - favourably, at least in my opinion.
Many people here need to grow up and stop treating this place as somewhere to spam, but be reminded that this community is a gathering collaboration of GAME MAKERS OUT TO MAKE GAMES AND GAMES with no paycheck, simply for the general public's enjoyment. Once the respect for that has returned and the games here are put FIRST for one (instead of Phizzy and his crew), then I'm sure we needn't moan about this community half as much as we all do now.
Well I'll be trying a lot harder to prevent offensive stuff being posted on this site - anything that I regard to as 'over the top' will be deleted. That means comments, forum posts, anything. Just be responsible when posting, and as long as it's not seriously insulting somebody (sure a joke is okay here and there - just don't go over-board) then you should be fine
I think it'd be good to include the "treat people how you'd like to be treated" thing - but whatever. Just play nice - things have been going a bit downhill but I have no doubt we can pick it back up!
Ok, long post follows. Though I really don't see why I should explain my actions, I thought they were pretty bloody obvious.
I didn't lock the topic because Phizzy said "I wasn't allowed to post" there. I locked it - and the other topics because he was insulting people. Phizzys been trying to drag my name into the gutter for the past month, and using Novasofts death (if he really did die) as an attempt to further this was just sad. And there's also the assumption that he thinks he can be allowed back into the community based on a sympathy vote - which I was tempted to do, actually.
At the moment I have absolutely nothing against the guy. I banned him a while back, and events died down. Suddenly he reappears, spouting a cock and bull story about "death is only worth posting about if its a friend of Circy's" - did he really expect me to instantly believe him?
He's been banned again. I have not banned him. I have had no involvement of his ban whatsoever this time. But I'm quite sure accusations of corruption will fly again, especially as he sent me a DCMail to me just before he was removed, saying that I was "f**king pathetic".
I don't have to sit around and read reports of corruption, ignorance or stupidity on my part. I feel I have acted in the best interests of the community, and, I have to reiterate this, had it been someone else banned, would you really be bothered? I think I'm doing a good job at this site, even if some of those don't agree. There seems to be this illusion upon the community members that there is a line. On one side is the community, the other side, the admins. Every time I step over the line, and mingle with the community side, nobody likes it. Because I speak my mind, and stick to the rules, your opinion of me is that I'm corrupt or immature. If thats the case, then I think its equally immature to start topics pinpointing certain individuals (which is why I locked Trackmasters topic). All it incites is a flamewar.
At the same time though you can't expect me to sit quietly and just accept it when insults are laid down against me. Though at the time maybe I was wrong to delete Novasoft, maybe not. I can't remember exactly what the arguments were about.
As I've said nearly countless times, if you have a problem with me or my actions, DC MAIL ME. There's always a good reason for what I do, even if you don't always see it. But I'm far from a corrupt admin, I've been here for 4 years, and none of the other admins have ever had a problem with the way I do my part here. And if they did, they would tell me.
Damn straight - and a lot of the decisions are usually based on all of the admin's decisions. So if you have a problem with a decision, mail an admin rather than posting a topic about it. That is ALL we ask!
Yeah, he used it as an attack, but that was not the main function of the topic. He informed us of Novasoft's death. And the fact that Nova didn't 1) get a front page mention, like that other guy, who incidentally was a friend of Circy's, and 2) his memorial topic got locked after two days, makes it feel like the administration is pissing on Nova's grave.
Axel the reason Nova's death wasn't posted on the front page is because we don't actually have any evidence it is true. If we do find in the near future that it is true and we have solid evidence, then we will post it on the front page as it is obviously sad news when anybody dies. In Darren's case, we had sufficient proof as it was reported on news channels and in newspapers.
