I've always really liked 3D Studio Max, it could just be because its the first real 3D program I learned putting Anim8or aside (it's more of a program with the ability to model and render, not a true modeling program). With having learned 3DS, and trying Maya (not liking it much), I'm kind of stayed loyal to 3DS.
Looks nice by the way. Nice to see other people taking on modeling, it's very rewarding to see your work unfold as you work on it, very hands on. I model to render, not so much for games, I hope to change that though. Good luck!
Looks good, much better than I can manage (I can't even render a cube right).
I'm using Blender right now for 3d (Specifically Space Battles). It's kinda wierd, but I'm liking it; if I could just figure out a good way of doing lasers now without them looking so crap (And not having to generate a script in GIMP to manually put the effects in there, that's a complete bitch, I'd rather do it in the render).
That's awesome, especially the hands and feet are great.
I am trying some low poly character stuff as well, getting stuck with proper texturing now tho
That really does look low poly. Good job getting it to look good too. I'm sure when you texture is it will look great. (or if you choose some other form of shading)
Thanks! I'm trying to make it DS friendly. Though I don't know how much is too much for a 3D model when it comes to the system. But 500 Polys should be alright, I think

Make sure to make the sides one-sided, that will about half the amount of polygons, I think, or at least improve performance even with more polygons.
Looks good for a low-poly model. Face shape still needs a bit of editing in my opinion though.
Yeah I agree with what Vince says; it's all good though so far. I presume/home you're doing something interesting for the crazy hair too, instead of just making a texture based on that low-poly example As that'd be a bit of a shame really and would look rather strange
And maybe introduce some emphasis to the nose too - but as I say, good work so far!
