Or is it just me? I'm talking really slow. Took me about three minutes to get from a game page to this board when it would usually take me ten seconds.
What's going on?
Yeah, it's been damn slow for me all day. I was gonna complain about it earlier, but the 'start new topic' page took too long to load. I blame the interwebs!

$3.99 hosting?
Yea like TDC would run off 250mb/10gb bandwidth. You don't even get ASP support. What a waste of time. Do you have any fucking idea what large sites demand? Why do you think there are expensive servers out there? Because some need more than a shitty little shared hosting server.
Jimmi wtf, calm down? Obviously it wouldn't run off the beginner package ¬_¬ Not even SilverNova runs off the beginner package, though I pay the same price.
I didn't realise there was no ASP support. And I run 4 large sites 3 of which have custom CMS's all designed and built by yours truly so yes I do have some "fucking idea".
I ran one small scale commercial site that required $400 a year to just keep working so where these numbers are coming from I've no idea. Maybe that's what you get from reputable hosts?
What we're you paying for exactly? Sounds to me like they were charging you per SQL database + other stuff at rather rocket high prices?!
It costs me no more than £30 / $60 a year to run my smaller scale sites and no more than £70 / $140 to run larger content sites, that's including the domain names.
Geez there are plenty of good hosts for cheap prices, I used to run a website with asp support, 1gb storage and 40gb bandwidth for about 3 pounds (or 10 AUD) a month. So even just a slightly higher package would suit tdc.
Yea originally it was on a cheap server, but as the model grew famous the traffic clocked up and we had no option but to move. $400 (about £210) was the absolute lowest. Unlimited everything though. I mean my £70/2 year personal server is unlimited, but the level of service provided and all the other nice things you get from the bigger ones is worth the extra.
Streams cost quite a bit extra too. But we made up a little bit by reselling subdomains (the extra cost gave us that right too).
And THESE guys even give you that for FREE - though I don't quite know how reliable they are but they claim not to have ads etc.. least not on the smallest plan. Nevertheless you bet there'll be some kinda catch along the line, but hosting prices are crazy these days.
But nobody pays $400 for a small commercial site :\ All you need is a server and you're away. I could host this site with my machine for free should I wish to (yeah my pc's quite mental) But then I don't leave it on 24/7 and would want something out of it.
Right. Well whatever. We made a tidy profit, initial cost of $400 a month was more than made up for through the sub-domains. But we couldn't find a reselling dedicated server for anything less.
I've just heard you're quite argumentative. So this is the end for me.
It is the slowest site of my regular every day visits. I suspect there might be something with the domain forwarding thing and not the actual host though. I might be terribly wrong but...
Its hard to be religious when certain people are never incinerated by bolts of lightning.
In the last 3 days I've noticed it go a whole lot slowly - took 2 minutes to load the forum one time. Seems to be okay this morning though, will see how it is tonight.
Yeah, it's being VERY slow for me today. I visit most days and the speed is usually fine... Although I've had no Internet access for the last 2 weeks so dunno if it's just a recent thing...
Oh and incase anyone wanted to know, this is my web host: http://www.fuitadnet.com/
Heh, gets the job done for me!
Unfortunately there are few other hosts that are as lenient as the current one as reguards to bandwidth and CPU time, and this is the first host in about 6 previous that doesnt crash every damn day due to having too many idiots hosted on the same server sticking the thing into loops, we got our own application pool on this server so unless somethings really cooking, shouldn't be too bad most of the time. I did at one point host it myself on my own server, but I simply dont have the bandwidth to be able to do this at the moment
