yer that would be good, it needs to have like honours as well, like most favourited game, most downloaded game of the week and stuff, ok its sounding a bit like you tube now.

DaVince This fool just HAD to have a custom rating
- Top-downloads isn't working (at least for me). According to those dl-numbers, there should be some other games listed.
- In my opinion, TDC could have better use for the downloads in general. What I mean by this is that now, when a product is submitted, it has a very short "lifespan" on the site. Then it "vanishes" down to the download-list and gets forgotten. I think some (bigger) projects have longer potential to be visible for a longer time. I think there should be two kinds of signs/remarks in the download-list next to the name of the product: [new comment] and [file updated]. This would give higher visibility for those projects that generate discussion and which are developed forward from the first release. Also, lately commented or updated games should somehow pop up again from the bottom of the list to up (maybe in another separate list *). However, unnecessary "bumping" should be prevented, and I'm not quite sure how it should be implemented in practice - there are many challenges in here. But the main thing is that the dl-list shouldn't be so "linear" from a new release and a week lifespan to forgotten. Instead, it should be more dynamic, and also other factors than time of release should determine the product's place and visibility on the list. This has also positive effects to the site in general, because more interesting content will be kept easily available for a longer time. For creators, this will provide more incentives to develop long term projects and improve them in time. Together, this kind of arrangement should result in more interesting site content and higher quality projects. As I see it, one of the problems of TDC has been lately declining trend of new games, but maybe it would be more useful to go and see if there is more to do with the exisiting, older, material. And I'm sure there is.
*this another list could be added in the downloads-page, with the current "time-ordered" list. There is a lot of space that could be optimized better so that more information would fit to the page: Title-column should be max. 50 characters long and titles longer than that should be divided into 2 or 3 lines. Both download- and author columns could be resized down by 50 %. These would give room for another, maybe "comment-ordered", list that perhaps shouldn't even have to contain the rating/author column. In this way, the old list would still be there and new games would be on the top of it, but the other list would contain popular releases regardless of the time of the release, those games which still have a high demand among the community.
Yeah, I think a lot of the old games on the downloads page are flawed. You can arrange to get the 'best games' by choosing the ones with the most % thumbs up. You can also arrange for most downloads and 'filter out' the old ones by looking at the date besides there.
But, unfortunately none of these things really show how good a game is. There was one time when we used reviews for ratings, but that was also flawed and not many review anymore.
So... if you guys have any better ideas for choosing the best downloads... we're willing to listen.

I was thinking about updating the profiles of users so that you're able to customize it some more - by adding lists of your favourite games, and information about yourself (hobbies .etc) - as well as displaying what is currently there (age, e-mail .etc).
I know that doesn't exactly show the best games, but it would allow us to see what games are people's favourites - I could also possibly create a page showing the game which is on the most favourites list .etc

I'll give you 20 DC points if you do that flava.
