This has probably been discussed before, but I just wanted to comment:
It seems to me that in the last 6-8 months TDC frontpage is just not being updated as frequently. There have been times over the last few years where this happens, but it will last a month or two and then no longer. I remember times where if I didn't visit TDC for a week, the front page would be 100% new posts since the last time I visited.
Now, I have come up with two simple reasons for this (there may be more smaller ones):
1) The admins are too lazy/busy. I tend to think its the later of the two, as it is no one's full time job to actually run this site. That is perfectly acceptable, but then why not add an admin or three so that TDC community can have more updates. This leads into my second point, which is that even if there were more admins to report, there is most likely going to be a LACK OF SUPPLY (from us, the community).
2) The solution I can see to the lack of supply issue, is that TDC posts more 'creative' (not the exact word i'm looking for) content. For example, the polls of the week and the talking points of the week are great. Bring back some old topics, like the retro klik-game of the week, or a challenge of the week (i.e. see who can get the lowest time on a certain level in a klik game w/ screenshot to prove). These things, I think, would have to be necessary as there just arn't enough klik games coming out to have constant updates.
In closing, I want to see more updates because I want TDC to be a place that I spend time on everyday (i.e. fazed.org, slashdot, etc) and not just a place I come to see if a klik game came out today, and if not i'm out. Is this feasible, or is it way too much work and way too little motivation? OR, there's always the possibility I am the only one that feels this way. In that case, feel free to ignore me and troll
Yeah, well getting virtually hanged by the TDC community for nearly anything we do isn't helping matters. Plus, when we add admins, alot tend to not do much; or disappear, or post about their phallic size on the front page.
Inspire community with your activity and TDC'd be better :---). You state that admins are lazy/busy. Why should they care about community when others do not care?
You want more news? Send your propositions for a news/talking topic/whatsoever to admin :---). We'll be delighted to see that you care about TDC.
I've been studying and doing exams for the last month - which is why there haven't been any Weekly Clicks, General Poll or GOTW posts from me. But the other admins covered the poll and GOTW for me - so I don't know why you don't think there have been any updates on the front page. If anything, there have been more news posts than there has ever been here at the DC.
If you're referring to the fact we haven't posted many new games on the front page - that's simply because of the lack of downloads being submitted, or lack of proper quality (we don't usually post games based on quality, but some games submitted have been jokes from fake accounts and things..).
So no I disagree, I don't think we're to blame at all.
