Bring it back, please? As soon as this site gets any better or changes in any way to disfavour a member or two, there's a sad little spiral of tantrums going on and Admins get pushed around by members who claim intellectual superiority.
That makes no sense to me, personally. Surely admins say what goes and the public put up with it? Is this going to be the next general poll now then? "Should we have a warning system?" .. Erm, well YEAH.
Well every move I or any other admin makes is a bad move, so why the hell should we even bother?
The warning system is gone - not just because of Radix comments but because I believe it was a bad move and it probably wouldn't have been used anyway, and the number of people messaging me and complaining about it started to really annoy me.
And you don't need to bother with the whole putting supportive messages in your signatures - I appreciate it and everything, but it's really not that big of a problem and it just makes out as though you feel sorry for me or something.
Radix has a good head on his shoulders, as do quite a few of us... if we use it correctly. You just have to learn to read in between the lines and see complaints as more then just requests to remove stuff, and use them to improve features. If a few people have strong opinions on what they don't like about a system, then tweak it. Theres a difference between being pushed around, and being guided around.
Flava, you're an awesome admin and I dare anyone to counter that with good reason. Listen to member opinions, but don't let them discourage you from making TDC a better place.
Spoiled kids are much harder to make obedient then those that were whipped from the day they left the whom. No one here is going to want to suddenly listen have to actually listen to the rules. Make a system, and if people have to complain about it, then they're obviously afraid that the system will back fire on them
I think the admins are doing a fine job as it is. Sometimes they're a bit over-zealous on the topic locks and such, but it's not a massive problem.
People are complaining about "rules" and "systems" and suchlike, but they may as well be non-existant (which is a good thing). How often are the rules broken? Hardly ever. Common sense applies in pretty much every case. If you do something stupidly offensive (like a nude Mario pic), then it gets deleted.
SilverNova has it all wrong.
"Surely admins say what goes and the public put up with it?"
No, the admins serve the public believe it or not (if they didn't, the public would fuck off). It's like saying the democracy rules the people. I don't know why SilverNova's going on about people "pushing around admins" and shiz - there's nothing but debate happening. Perhaps SilverNova would like to see and end to all non-click related chat on forums?
"Well every move I or any other admin makes is a bad move, so why the hell should we even bother?"
Don't take it personally Flava.
I think the warnings system was a bad move. To me, it looked like you were saying yes there are rules and you will obey them or face the consequences! Like we were a bunch of naughty kids.
