Hi, I had one question I'd like to ask about your opinions of bullet flight in a side-scrolling platformer. Until yesterday, I had it so that while the bullet was in the air, every 10 milliseconds it's Y position was increased by +3. This gave the bullet a bit of gravity and made a slowly sloping downward line until it hit the ground. This was cool because I could line up Rovert and hit ground enemies with the bullets, but he couldn't hit things from across the screen at all.
So last night I took out the gravity for the bullet completely, and now it's a straight line all the way. The main problem with this is that the bullets sail over most ground enemies because they're short. This isn't a big problem I suppose because now it'll make you have to switch out to a sword or whatever and take them out up close.
Now you may be thinking: "Gravity for a bullet? That's crap because they move too fast to be affected by it for the time you see one on the screen!" Yeah, for a bullet from a gun, but my bullets are exploding holy shitballs. Think of them like if you were to toss a snowball instead of shoot a magnum. Would you guys have gravity affect a bullet like this, or keep it as flying straight and narrow? There are benefits to both, IMO, I just can't decide which to have for my game.
Thank you!

Simple, make your character able to duck to shoot for enemies.

I already have that action for casting spells off of the equipped weapons though.
Plus, he has sort of a baseball pitcher's toss that wouldn't look right if he were crouching. I think I'll leave it as flying straight because the projectiles are really too powerful as it is. This will help balance it all out in the end I believe.
