I'm trying to get an online component of a project of mine to work, but it won't connect to any servers except localhost. Can anyone tell me what's wrong with it? Are all the dedicated servers on www.mooserver.com down?

Here's my source:

From the looks of it, you're not actually putting in a name yet. I've never really done tests without doing this, but that might be your first problem

The best way to debug Mooclick is to set up a string or maybe use a pop-up object and make it show a message on an error, then tell you what that error is.

a player name?

The error box isn't returning any errors for me.

Edit:

Lol, Cows and I tested this out on a LAN network earlier. I set my chat as the host and he connected to my local IP. Worked fine.

Could the problem be that my college's routers suck?

Or maybe it's Vista?

It's probably the DSL and DNS settings with your routers at college, along with any in-built firewalls they may contain, which is the problem Take them out of the equation and you're fine.
Really, you'd need to take it to a house and try it online from there before you can eliminate what the problem with, because there could be a whole host of different things going on here with the old networking gag.

geez...college sucks.. >_<

I guess that's the problem. I installed Smiley House and used Flava's example file and they wouldn't connect at all either.

Not any online game will probably connect on any college network. They all secure that stuff nowadays.
