I'm trying to get a movie/game company up and running and I don't know what heading they come under. Movies usually come under ... productions or ... pictures or ... arts. Arts is pretty cool but it's too similar to Lucas Arts. I'm pretty much going with 'Edwin Street Productions' at the moment but it seems a little long and I'm not sure if you can call a game a production. I looked it up in the dictionary and it says somthing like a stage play etc. :S - That doesn't help.
So yeah I just wanted to get your thoughts on what a game should come under. And what you have called your company?
Cheers

Why not shorten it to "Edwin Productions" or something? Or, yeah, "E.S. Productions", that might work. Or if you want to skip the "productions"-bit, you could have, uh.. "Edwinized" or something, haha. Or just "Edwin Games"? Maybe "Edwin Street Games" is a little too long, too?
I myself chose "Spiriax Games" just because my online nickname became "Spiriax". That name isn't already taken at many places.

So far, the best I have heard is "Edwin Street Productions". However, if you're working in a team, go with something different than your name as the team name.
I work in Tengusoft and Ectoprods, and I used the name "DaVinceWorks" in one of my old games... Speak of weird names.

Well I kind of wanted it to be a place first, then name second. That'd be better. Kind of like the Stone Street Studios in New Zealand.
But yeah is it okay to call a game a production?

Of course it is!
If you've spent many many months and hours working on your project (and especially if the project is big), it sure as hell is a production if you ask me.
I say, go for it!
