I really need a new computer. If you had the money to buy ANY PC what exactly would you get? As in: please help me build my new computer/tell me what parts are sexy and just share the knowledge you have. thank you very much.
I'd get a maxed out 24" iMac. I'd recommend a home built PC, Core2Quad are very powerful chips and the 8800 seems to be a very popular graphics card (most popular amongst HL2: Episode 2 users). Such a machine would run Crysis at medium settings whilst still being affordable. 2gb ram seems to be a running figure and also pretty cheap. Dell are the top dog with monitors.
Top that off with a Microsoft Habu mouse and it's all good.
Oh and if you plan on playing games be sure to avoid Vista. You'll want that 5-10% performance hit back.
how can you possibly make a computer that expensive if you dont buy some motherfucking expensive screen?
tell me TIM what would you buy so your computer costs more than 3k pounds

Well actually, it makes up an awful lot for not having such a good graphics card! It doesn't utilize the full force of the four cores but it certainly shares the work-load across them and enhances things a lot!
Certain systems can utilise many cores. OSX supports god knows how many now, XP isn't so hot with them but I hear Vista supports dual core (for the OS themselves). Crysis supports a max of either 8 or 16 cores. Most AAA rated new games at least support dual core.
TBH, never go with AMD, for the second you will - intel will bring out a chip 1000x better, along with 8 more cpu's to choose from in that series, most likely.
AMD are cheap and cheerful and aren't as good at Intel. They once had the upper hand for about 6 months and business was booming for them - but that time has since long passed and Intel simply wipe the floor with them now...
If you're on a very tight budget then go AMD, otherwise, save a little bit longer and get an Intel.

so
an AMD USER is saying the new AMD sucks- oh boy. i thought AMD WAS better for gaming. i want the best and like i said money is no problem. i rather pay way more than suffer with anger and frustration because ive got a crap pc. so i guess i should get intel. i was at the store a while ago and the dude said i should wait for the new AMD- now its out and you guys are telling me it sucks.
ATI actually supply new technology for graphics cards for Nvidia, but Nvidia have since got so big that they can afford to buy-off ATI's technology ... whilst this makes ATI very rich it gives Nvidia the earlier release of the latest and new technology.
At least that's what I heard. ATI (as far as gfx cards go) really do the job, providing you get the top 3 of the range. The top ATI card will always be in the top 3 (at least the top 5) graphics cards available and are often much cheaper than Nvidia by at least £120. In that instance, I'd say go for AMD.
for CPU's ...... Intel rules the world. They always win in the end.
