I know this might seem very remedial due to my lack of dexterity with this software, but I'm making a side-scroller and I wanted to know how to make an active object jump without having to hold a key that enables movement and then jumping. For example, when I try movement, I held onto the right arrow or left arrow to move, but whenever I press the up arrow to jump id doesn't work unless I move and jump at the same time.

By the way, I just wanted to clarify that I'm using TGF2, if that makes it any easier to solve this problem. Also If my explanation was incomprehendable, here's a simplified example. press up arrow, no jump. press right arrow, object moves, then press uparrow while holding down right arrow, object jumps. If there are any articles that you could reccomend on Platforming and sidescrolling and also movement for noobs, that would be nice as well. Misspelled recommend. that is all.

What you must do is use a CPM, but since your new, here's another way.
Change the jump option to "Fire 1". Then, go to the app properties, then press the runtime options button. Go down to the player controls section, then change Fire 1 to up.
