....at least I'm considering it. After the bad reviews for my latests freeware game ( http://www.create-games.com/download.asp?id=7004 ) and seeing how others who released similair games which weren't any better, but got mainly great comments, I'm considering quiting all together, or at least releasing freeware games. The lost Stones Chronicles is a Trilogy, but the way it's going now I see no need to release the other 2 parts and continue game creation. If the comments are correct, then I wasted my time creating the Lost Stones Chronicles.
If hardly anyone enjoys my freeware games, I may as well quit creating them and perhaps stop altogether. I guess I'm better off returning to creating comics, at least people enjoy reading those.
first of all. it looked great. although from what i saw in the screenies it lacked from any shadows or lighting which woulda made it quite impressive. on the gameplay aspect, i can't say as i did not want to take the time to make the 80mb dl.
i wouldnt get too upset on anything anyone says here. some games that are made that are complete shyte get good ratings comments for some reason. not saying that war of antarctica is. havent dl'ed that yet either. but you did get some good ratings.
i would say "please don't quit". if you enjoy doing it, then do it. get input on game mechanics and graphics early on. make alpha and beta tests. improve, optimize, and release. maybe start out on a smaller scale as well.
and time is never wasted, only used to become better. if you spend a lot of time making something you think is great and it turns out average? then use the comments and take more time to make the next one better. thats how almost ALL of us started.
The comments on your game aren't even that bad. I suggest you use this experience to learn how to deal with negative feedback because it's unavoidable.
Learn to ignore negative comments from people with no submitted games. They don't realize the hard work that goes into making a game. Take note of constructive comments though.
I'm not sure if this site is the right audience for the game, people here is more into retro 2d platformers. Your game is quite a bit more complex, and a 80mb download puts off people just looking for a quick fix. Upload it to some other free game site.
- Ok, you must admit that was the most creative cussing this site have ever seen -
If you need to leave for a while, leave. Game-making is fun, but sometimes a guy needs a break. Sometimes a really long break. As long as you're passionate about making games, you'll eventually find the inspiration to return to it.
That game of yours looks pretty cool though.

If you're getting bad reviews, become better with the criticism you get. Quitting is a sign of weakness, you're partially doing this for fun anyway, right?
(hmm ... this guy sounds like me ... always down on myself) ... don't be so negative dude, my advice is make some "purposely crap" stuff like the rest of these guys do .. lol ... then you'll get used to bad reviews from the critics.
I'll release some "purposely crap" stuff myself as soon as I get a file host ... anyone know of a good free one ?
Blood of the Ancient One, Seen only as Shadow, Faster than Lightning, Fierce as the Greatest Dragon, Nearly Invisible, Floating in a Dream, Entered through the Demon Door, Destroyer of Evil in a Realm with a Red Sky Scarred, Who could I be ?
Thanks for all the comments. I'll finish the game I'm working on for sure and then I'll decide what I'm going to do next.
I guess I indeed need to get a good perspective on this website. I think I have to get used to the idea that a good number of people critizising games have no clue how to even make on or how TGF/MMF really works.
It's a bit disheartening to finally release a game, having spent hours to overcome flaws and shortcomings of MMF2 and then see people complain about things beyond my control. Some of the comments I couldn't even believe, 'I'm too lazy to do such and such so your game sucks and you need to improve it'. I'll ignore those in future and do something with the real critisism that people posted to help.
I've also decided not create more strategy games with MMF2, I can't get good solutions for the shortcomings and flaws in it and having played about every 'real' strategy game released with TGF/MMF I see everyone is having the same problems. But don't expect a platformer, I'm working on something else, more an action/adventure game, with some rpg/strategy elements.
Btw.... I'm not new to MMF, my join date stands in no relation to the time I've been around.
