Anything between 10x10 and 30x30 should be fine, though I guess it depends on the game, and your skill in drawing small sprites (it's surprisingly difficult to make anything decent, with less than 20x20 pixels to work with). 16x16 and 20x20 are popular choices. It's up to you, really.
well ive tried 16 x 16, and it seemed too small, so i went up to 30 x 30 and it was too big, then i tried 20 x 20 and it just diddnt look right.i dont know, mabey today just isnt a good clicking day for me.
Your just jealous that you're not as awesome as me.

I usually go with either 24x24, 16x16 or once 14x14 for all my sprites and tiles. But usually my main characters ends up being 9x11 or something ridiculously small...
its a good idea that the width of your screen size AND the height of your screen divided by your basic square tile size comes out to a whole number. so youd want to use 10x10 or 16x16 or 20x20. that allows for perfect tile griding in the game and its more aesthetic to the look of the game.
if 16x16 was too small then 10x10 will be waaay to small. so you need to use 20x20.
im using a small resolution because im better at creating smaller sprites. ever since i started clicking i just made small people, my bigger sprites usually look weird and jumpy when i try to animate them, but when i use small sprites they just seem to look better for me. i dont know. mabey ill post some of my spriting, and you guys can give me some tips on them.
but thanks for all of your help guys, i really appreceate it.. (wow i spelled that horribly wrong.)
