I saw there is something out now called the wii fit, what does it do? does it help you lose weight, nintendo is makin everything possible for this new console! soon they will have the wii toilet, that will let you crap while you play games! then they will make a wii tooth brush, that will allow you to brush your teeth when you play mario kart! then they will make a wii fork and spoon set , that will let you eat meals while you play whatever game your playin!
Phred: Funny thing is, they're not gimmicks. They're new ways of interacting with games, ways that actually work and in some cases are needed to play the games.

Wii Sports would have been worthless with a standard controller, which shows how much a gimmick it really is, although a successful one.
If you're GOOD with a standard controller it is way more precise than the Wiimote for FPS.

Not exactly. Before the Wii I invested many hours and games in Halo, HL2 and them lot and there is simply a lack of instant precision with a standard controller. The Wiimote doesn't come too close to the speed and precision of a standard mouse but it's leaps ahead of a controller. Console FPS finally becomes a competitor to a PC experience.
Way I see it - the PS3 and 360 attempt to get a PC like experience but with clunky controllers (work well in some genres, not so well in others), theres nothing either system can do that a PC can't. The Wii brings something closer to an arcade experience. Which is why I only bought a high-end PC and Wii
Ignore Phred guys - we don't want this turning into a fanboy thread afterall.
The Wii Fit looks like fun, it's not really my thing but I could probably see my sister and maybe my parents trying it out. No doubt that it's going to sell really well in the UK.
Yeah, I tend to be a bit hard on the Wii at times.
I say again though, I think that Super Mario Galaxy and Mario Kart Wii are great games. The Wii would probably be a better console for me if I had people over more often to play with. Me and my nephews had a lot of fun playing Mario Kart Wii some time ago.
I'm not a fan boy, I have both Wii and 360, and I intend to buy a PS3 later.

Yeah I would have bought an xbox by now if every single decent game didn't end up releasing for PC (Except dead rising)
I can probably wait 6 months for the inevitable GTA4 port as well
