I think the site needs an overall redesign. It would be good to have things more image based. Since a game rarely gets downloaded without a screenshot, I'd think having a screen of the game on the main page instead of half the title cut off would make more of an impact. Check out http://xbox360.ign.com/
Instead of having a sidebar with What's New there could be a scrolling bar at the top that shows a pic from the latest games that've been uploaded.
I think the main focus should be:
1.) Recently updated projects (what has been most recently uploaded new, or what has been most recently updated)
2.) Recently Uploaded games or demos (this would be the scroll bar at the top of the screen)
I don't really see a need for having Downloads in both the What's Hot and What's New sidebars since if you look at them it's the exact same thing in each.
I've got an idea in my head that I might jot down. Site does need a visual overhaul, or at least the front page does.
IMO the Projects and Download pages need to have an option to view the title graphics too (or whatever the "main screen" is). I like the functional database layout as it stands but graphics are always nice
I've felt like it needs some of these changes for a long time but didn't get around to mentioning them til now. You did not influence this at all and you deserve no credit.
Ok you can have 2% of the credit but that is all!!!
Yeah this was something I believe I brought up and even made a similar mock up in the private forums. I think I did anyway, I don't have access anymore so I can't tell if I actually posted an image but I made note of it. It was more of a 'Spotlight' feature which would reflect back on old classics as well as highly rated games and GOTW games that new people could be introduced to. Not just that though but it would also include articles and projects too. The whole point was obviously to allow older games to still get the credit they got when they were first released.
Spotlight I think is still a good idea, I'll probably get it implimented soon, I'll probably have it on random rotation too, so the best of new games and classics get some frontpage attention
Oooh... do a GOTW rotator too! It'll save the controversy of having a poor game appear on a front page rotator

Are you guys serious about the logo being good looking?!?! It kind of looks childish now, which i cannot understand since 99% of people who contribute to this site are trying their hardest to produce high-quality near-professional games. Why not have a picture that has something to do with GOTW in the title bar instead or something, maybe even a colour scheme to match.
That, to me, seems more professional looking - you could even say it is 'cool' looking!!
We could always talk to the admins about this.
Mabey they will be up for it if one of us could make a cool new logo.
Or even a re-amped version of Mitch.

Your just jealous that you're not as awesome as me.
(And my megaman avatar )
It's not Mitch i dislike, it's just the pic of him is over-familiar that's all. I like the idea of competitions tho, especially the 'design-a-Mitch' one
I like Mitch. Mitch is to The Daily Click as in Santa Claus is to Christmas. You can't change him!

Maybe I've missed something crucial, but in what way can you relate Mitch to game making with click software? Is he a character from some ancient but AW-zUm click game or just a logo?
I seriously think the whole website needs to be redone; new theme, new forums, new logo and move away from asp (I've always found it unreliable, php is much better in my opinion).
OR We can just put lasers everywhere and make things shiny....shiny always works!
