Stop WoW2! This guy went about it in a professional manner, 28,000 signatures so far. Hopefully they'll listen if enough people voice their opinion. No developer will go ahead with something if 50% or more of their customers strongly disagree with something they could easily change.
Oddly I was the first person to make a post on the forum complaining about the art direction, like 10 seconds after they put it online. Seriously, I programmed an entire diablo-style inventory in click, I programmed an entire diablo-style game in click, I wanted to make something with that same skill setup.
It really does look too much like its the WoW crew working on WoW2 and calling it Diablo 3; Wheres the inventory system that was so famous an influential? Wheres the dark gothic art style? Its either WoW2 or a God of War knockoff.
I like the new graphics. What I'm seeing here is the same reaction that TF2 got, and art style aside (as wonderful as it is) it urinates all over TF Classic.
How can you guys say that? Diablo isn't supposed to look like WoW, its supposed to have giant dark plains that you have to squint to see, its supposed to have gothic style castles to explore.
But its NOT supposed to look like an episode of Jimmy Neutron.
Your just jealous that you're not as awesome as me.
(And my megaman avatar )
I think people should respect the decision made by the producers of the game, and have a little more trust in them. Sometimes change isn't so bad. Zelda is a good example of this.
I was gutted with Zelda when it went cel-shaded. It actually turned out to be an awesome game! Still do prefer the more realistic look, mind. Anyway this is a diablo thread so I wont change it.

If you like you can turn down the brightness on your computer screen.

I used to turn up the brightness on mine with D1 and especially D2, as I found them just a bit too dark (lighting wise)
D3 may be a bit overlit, and not in keeping with the gothic "end of the world" style, but that doesnt mean you can't appreciate the graphic detail.
Plus the demo trailer only shows 2 areas of gameplay, what's to say that many of the others aren't in keeping with the original "oh look mummy whats that big scary thing coming out of nothingness, i think I crapped my pants, can somebody hand me a torch so I can see" feel.
