Hey guys

SO, here's the thing. A couple years back someone showed me MPT and taught me throu allot of things in it. ( I think it was Aggggge) But then I had a couple computer crashes, lost it, lost interest in it, and forgot about it.

Now I come back and I'd like to start playing around with it BUT I download it, load it, and....OOPS

can't do anything else.

I forgot how I got the sounds for the instruments, I thought they would come in the instalation. and I can't much in it right now cuz I totally forgot how

So can anyone help me?

I'd be glad!

THanx guys.

allthebest
Nate

If you just want some to play around with, its probably easiest to take samples from other mods

if you open up another mod in mpt you can drag samples from the file tree thingy on the left of the window into the samples section of your new mod.

ive messed around with it before but haven't really looked into instruments. i just use samples ripped from emulators (and make crap music)

To start, you can import Microsoft's MIDI sample library. Right-click on the left pane with the song information and stuff like "MIDI Bank". Choose to import a new sound bank. Browse to Windows\system32\Drivers and select GM.DLS. Now you can use MIDI samples in your songs.

Then you can import samples from other module songs. Open the module, save the samples or instruments you find within. You don't even have to save them, you could just open the module file in the "sample browser" at the bottom-left and drag the samples that are displayed from there.

Then you could look on the internet for soundfonts, which can be compared to the GM.DLS file you might have imported earlier, only with different samples and sometimes specialized to very specific instruments. Not all soundfonts work well in MPT, but when they do you're left with some quality samples.
I myself have the following soundfonts, which can or can not work well in MPT:
- Unison.sf2
- Musica Theoria.sf2
- FF8.dls (based on Final Fantasy 8, works well)

Also, I have tons of more samples and a bunch of soundfonts, so perhaps I could share some sometime. At least you can get a bunch of samples from the songs on my website (and Phizzy's, and Axel's, and Yair's).
