i was taking the mickey; Driver 1 was innovitive, Driver 2 a flawed gem, Driv3r a pile of crap! I didn't even play the next one (whatever it was called!) What did you think of the Driver series?
Halo 3 is not innovative. Good game yes, but nothing new.
This gives me an idea for TDC though. At the end of the year we should vote on all the games submitted, 3 awards, Most innovative, Best Graphics, and Best Original soundtrack.
I didn't read the article, but I can guess what it's about. Halo 3 is NOT innovative. But I don't really care, since I'm sick of the word innovative. Is anyone else? (I'm not sick of innovation, I'm sick of the word innovation. ) I must say that wii fit is very innovative...
Driver was pretty lame if i recall. (i own it for the psone) The two things i can remember from when i played it are:
1. Boring mission where you drive from A to B back to A again within a time limit. Well there was probably more variety i just don't remember lol
2. The insane amount of bugs you could get on that cop chase mini game. Especially if you got hit on the bottom of your car, sometimes making you fly over skyscrapers and glitching the game engine in the process.
But yeah Halo 3, correct me if i'm wrong but wasn't that preceded by two other games that pretty much do the same thing?
.
DaVince This fool just HAD to have a custom rating
this has got to be the most outrageous thing ive ever heard. halo isnt even that great. waaaaay too overrated. since when has online gameplay been an innovation? since when has multiplayer been an innovation? the only game that deserves innovation in multiplayer gameplay is goldeneye. screw you bungie. i hope you choke on your award.
Haha, yes! 2 things made Halo 1 a standout title for me - the environment and the gameplay pacing. So they bugger both them up for Halo 2, then lie and say "3 will be more like the first game!" and make it even worse!
It does so well online because it's so basic. It's slower and less complicated than Counterstrike, TF2 and the big PC shooters. Though one could argue the simplicity is genius and acts as a gateway drug to real FPS games. A sort of casual FPS.
Most klik games has music from other games and stuff, so I don't think that this award should be (at the moment) given.
Most do, but what about the titles that don't? TSE2, Noitu love, Bonesaw, Riva Runs, Lilykin all have original OSTs and I reckon there are enough other ones out there to warrant this award category.
Likely it'll be a fight between Josh Welchel and Johan
Journalists are getting worse these days. What ever happened to the days when it used to be about facts? Not blind hype, tabloids, or advertisement money Game journalists tend to be the retards of the journalism community, so yeah, I'm not really surprised.

Perfect dark is still the benchmark for multiplayer in my opinion. Shame it's almost unplayable now we're used to better then 6fps and a window of 160x120 (in a 4 player mode) in our games.
Halo 3 is a good game probably overrated, but still better than most games out there, the reason because it got that award is either because the reporter is a retard or because his boss told him to because that's what the readers want to read. Things didn't turn out that well, but well, shit happens.
this is much sadder if you look at #1 on PCGamers top 100.
And just the basic things like planescape > baldurs gate? medieval II > civ II? portal > anything?

It would be 5 contenders so I don't thing the award should be yet given.
I have proven new mathematic formula to be true...
If by "best" you mean most played, had most fun from and hopelessly addicted to then yes. TF2 is one of the best games I've ever played. And we get the Heavy update in a week shame about the console version owners (esp. the PS3 Orange Box, eek).

When Jimmy is released there will be 6 to choose from. Well, one really because the rest will suck in comparison.
Don't aim for perfection- you'll miss the deadline
'~Tom~ says (16:41):

halo 3 was not that good, the online was poor IMO, how it won this award i dont know. Wii fit doesnt deserve it, its not a game nor is it any future that the gaming industry should consider ( im not a wii fan!). /rant Nintendo should be slapped round the face for allowing shite like "how to cook" and "Wii Fit" to be classed as games, these are not games, they are some sort of cash grabbing hybrid for the sad and overweight, IMO games are like playable books or films, you become the character, you admire the world that an artist has created, you do not put on your shorts and have a little jog on a matt! you do not find out the recipe for a quiche! /rant
extremly angry about the almost insulting future of the Wii and DS, they should have been great but instead are rotting the industry from every angle.
I suppose that means action films are the only acceptable genre of films?
The way I see it games are just a districting, goal-driven interactive application that serves to either entertain or educate the player. The games you mentioned even have goals! WiiFit sets targets that you're supposed to aim for. The only difference between a "game" and WiiFit is that you have physical improvement to match the psychological achievement of hitting a goal.
The problem is with most people who exercise on their own is that they don't get the psychological achievement so soon. Without a trainer or something like WiiFit there is nothing to track your progress so finely.
And oddly enough WiiFit, Brain Academy have entertained me a whole lot longer than these recycled action games I keep seeing.
this is much sadder if you look at #1 on PCGamers top 100.

That's a matter of taste, I guess. I'm happy X-Com, Fallout, Civ4, Mafia, Company of Heroes and Medieval II were up there. The arrangement is really up to the person who made it. Some people would compare games now and back then equally, some people put something that was "good for its time" like Super Mario Bros. and Pacman at the top.
Civ II was overrated IMHO, Civ4 pwns, partly because of all the great mods it has. I've never played Planescape, but I know Baldur's Gate 2 is such an absorbing, addictive piece that I've bought it twice and I'm afraid to play it because I know it'll suck my life away.

I'm not saying Halo 3 is good or not because i haven't played past the first level. But at the same time it is the only game (apart from Viva Pinata) of the 10 games that i own on the XBox 360 that i just cannot be bothered to play. I don't know what it is about it, but it just doesn't capture my imagination or pull me into playing it. I got 2/3 through Halo 1 on the PC too, but gave up due to it's repetitive level design. It's such a shame - i don't hate it and i want to love it, but i just can't!
P.S. To put my Halo 3 plight into perspective, i even forced myself through to the end of Assassin's Creed after playing the first level of Halo 3, and still didn't return to it!
I liked the first one (of both them!) too. Took the PS1 (the big one) on holiday and before the laser broke we racked up hours on Driver and Tony Hawks 1. Poor thing
My Dreamcast broke only a few months after I got it when I played Marvel vs Capcom for 8 hours straight. Can't stand that game now though. I wonder why
