I'm planning on doing a fighting game with the MMF2 I bought a few weeks ago but before I start coding I want to be able to draw good gfx like in the ones that you can see in arcade games (Street Fighter 2, etc). Can anyone suply me with a good website that can show how to draw human anatomy and fighter characters? Also making pixel art fighters?
That link my friend, leads to tutorials made by THE Tsugumo...
It is ancient and mystic wisdom regarding all pixellish...
Use this wisdom well...
So anyways, chapters 9-15 are the ones you want.
The Samurai tutorials are all 100% quality tutorials too!
Actually, everyone should save that page in their fav-folder.
I think alot of people may have overlooked this thread because spriting for beat-em-ups is just so damn time consuming!! And that's before we even get to the coding, the controls, special moves etc....
.....Good luck with yours though, hope it's all original! Any thoughts on what it'll be like? Realistic? Cartoonish (Street Fighter 2)? Martial Arts based? Fantasy? I'm interested in your idea now...

Id love to help but i don't really know the best way to draw large relatively realistic sprites.
You can probably use the same techniques as drawing on paper starting out with an outline or stick men to get your poses correct then filling in the details later.
I'm sure there are a few good tutorials on drawing human anatomy, and since its dealing with low res sprites you wont need anything detailed. Whole body tutorials only.
@Ethernal: Thanks for the link Eternal, but it seems like my ISP has blocked that website I have no idea why I'll try to get an access with hidden proxy later on.
@Mark Radon: Well we all have to start from one point. I'll start out with something simple, but I'm planning on making an "original remake" of a popular DOS fighting game. I don't want to mention the name so that no one would steal my idea But it will probably take some time before you can even see an alpha version of it
@AndyUK: Yep, I'll start out with the anatomy and stick figures I'm gonna try hard to make games similar to games on consoles like in NeoGeo
