Is there a way mods can delete ratings for games that are unfair. The following two links are to downloads that have gotten star ratings that are obviously not serious or done for some stupid reason. These ratings end up bringing down the averages of games which isn't fair to the creators.
The admins would have a lot of job trying to delete all the 'unfair' ratings. It's also sometimes quite hard to tell if the bad rating is because of the player really doesn't like it and has some reasons for it, or if the bad rating is because of the user jerking out.
Oh, and by looking to the links you posted, I'd have to add this:
I agree in the thing about guys like Napalm who just want to show how retarded they are, their posts could be quite much deleted.
Napalm, they guy who "introduced himself" blah blah is clearly a fake account, judging by how he's rated Blind Ninja. Either that or he's just a retard.
I'm not saying every review that goes against the majority should be removed. If it is actually hard to tell if it's an unfair review then it should stay. But in the cases I provided it's clear that the ratings should not count towards the average. Very rarely does a game really deserve 0 stars.
I dunno. I like the new rating system BECAUSE it lets you see that some people are voting 0 for no reason. IMHO the article rating system is annoying, because people are rating down articles without showing their faces. At least with the downloads, it's obvious who's rating down a download.
I think a 0 vote is almost always a vote to pull the rating down. It's a bit unbalancing to delete some of those ratings, because most great games which I would rate 5 stars don't actually deserve a 'perfect score'. Thus, the best games are judged by their 0 star to 5 star ratio.
In fact, I'm personally wondering if all games should have a 0 star vote by default, to thin out the fact that a few good games are getting higher scores than the best games. That's the main reason the crazy thumbs up system was introduced in the first place.

Andyuk's got a good point. Maybe we should be able to vote half stars. I think having 10 whole stars would be too much but being able to still vote for _/10 would be good.
Anyway, I don't really think the system is bad how it is. If we had a more massive amount of people voting like on major sites where polls or products get thousands of reviews it wouldn't be as big of an issue since even if people vote unfairly their opinion gets diluted by the hundreds of fair votes. But when you're talking under 100 votes for a game an unfair 0 can really have an impact on the average score.
Games here don't get nearly 100 votes, a lot of them have like 10 votes, so a single vote of 0 drags down a perfect score by half a star (if my maths is correct >_< ).
I think the answer is obvious... More people need to be voting!
Why not include an option where if someone scores below 2 stars, then everyone else can put an 'objection' request in. When X amount of 'objection' requests are met, the score is discounted from the average? That way people power can overcome idiots who score just to cause trouble or act big. People who genuinly believe the game deserves such a low score can help safe-guard against their score being 'objected' by putting forward sensible and justly reasons for the score in a proper arguement. If poeple read this and agree, they won't put an 'objection' in. And by automating this feature the admins do not have to do anything extra!
Or how about a little message on the download page asking people to carefully consider their rating before making one?
Or asking people to stay positive in their comments because people that make games do it for free and put a lot of their free time into it, asking nothing in return.
In my opinion, the whole rating system could be deleted.
If a person really wants to rate a game, its much more useful for others if he writes a few sentences about it.
I personally have never downloaded anything here because of its rating. I open the download section and if anything looks great an has good replies, i`m going to download it.
The starsystem doesnt express how good a game really is.
There are many 5 star games, what means a "perfect" game to me, but i would have rated them a 3 or something.
Quality games could be better recognized in the download section by the amount of downloads. Mayby a system was good, where a game gets a yellow star for 100 downs, a red star for 200 downs or something like that.
Nah, I like a rating system. No rating system is even worse than a bad rating system.
I'd say rating games by downloads is a bit pointless, because you can already see the downloads anyway. Which is a good way to see which games are good if you don't like the rating system

I think the rating system is good too. Also I haven't seen any games get a 5. Their averages are all around 4.9 or so at best and that's for games that deserve 4.9s like noitu love.
I was looking at the comment section and noticed that if you even hover over the stars it changes the rating. It seems very easy to pick 5 stars, click the rate game box, and then accidentally hover over the 0 star before clicking submit comment. This could explain 2 of the negative reviews for noitu love.
*Edit, I went back and this seems to have changed but it was definitely doing it before.
no it still does it. and that IS why some votes are like that. but most of the time, immediately after a bad vote that person will go "omg i didnt mean to vote it 0 stars! " and SHOULD contact an admin to change their vote.
What about getting rid of the star system and having it to where one must right a full review to actually rate the game. This way more people would have a reason to actually review a game as well as giving the creator a chance to have a full out explanation as to why their game may have gotten a particular score.

The rating system is fine and used widely across more popular sites on the internet. Sure, Youtube gets more visitors, but that doesn't make the rating system on TDC a bad one, does it? It only displays the average of ratings once there are more than 5 people who voted, anyway, which partially prevents inaccurate average ratings.
Well this person has come in to give a game 0 stars once again. I understand the desire to have everything automated on the site to limit the amount of work admins have to do but it's really obvious when someone is being a jackass and it's really unfair to the people who put effort into these games. It can't be that much work to delete a comment/rating. Hell if someone wants to give me the power and knowhow to do it I'll spend the 3 1/2 minutes a day taking care of it.......
5 stars is enough. Half stars etc are pointless in my opinion. Really, unless you play every game and spend your LIFE on this site, you're only going to rate games which left a lasting impression on you, bit like youtube videos. I believe that 0 star ratings on obviously very good games should be removed, as it's usually from either flamers or people who believe that the game doesn't deserve the rating it's got so they're trying to have as much of an affect on their own as possible. Which is unfair, as that one person could easily displace 5 5star ratings down to a 4 overall. Not fair.
Don't aim for perfection- you'll miss the deadline
