Let's face it, some things have become a built in routine, so much so that as I might try to get away from the site, I can't really stay away. Every once and a while something really interesting will happen, and I'll feel too out of the loop if I miss it.
i dont think its me being bitter. i think its my perspective changing. the fun things just arent fun enough to detract from the annoyances. maybe the arcade can change that. but im a skeptic and a cynic.
@brandon. fav toolbar much? right click open all in tabs.
Well I don't always visit the same websites in a row. I usually come to the computer not knowing what I want to go to, and as I enter websites, I think of the next one I want to go to. Then after they're all entered, I go by each tab and I log into each profile. Then I sweep back over each tab and go to the specific pages I'm looking for updates on. Then I go by into each tab and make my appropriate responses, close FireFox, and I'm done.
I don't know why I'm still here... Super-fun klik games aren't released on a weekly (or even monthly) basis anymore and I don't even use MMF anymore. I guess I've got nowhere else to go.
Discarded pizza boxes are an indispensable source of cheese.
I really like Rikus as a person, but what he never understood is that people don't hate TDC, they hate the way it's handled sometimes. Too many posts get deleted that have nothing to do with flamewars. They get deleted without stating a reason and people are not supposed to ask for a reason. Posts and people are treated unequal. People get warnings or get banned for stuff others got away with many times (why did I never get a warning?). When asking for clearance we just get the same old "we need to do this to keep the site running". It is true, it works. When Stalin ruled over the USSR no trains were running late and nobody was moaning. But at one point it will piss people off too much. Even feedback on how admins are running the site is dealt with "no, not true", "no, we know how to choose admins", "no, it's worse at other places". You can say TDC always survived and the other sides didn't, but in most cases this was caused by the existence of TDC, which is like the big, smelly capitol of click where people keep going because time stands still there. The only thing that keeps TDC going is the massive amount of members it has and the cheer factor. The design is outdated, the coding is messy, chances for coverage very uneven. I've seen a lot more flamewars and retarded crap here than on any other click site, and those other sites where always there for people who where sick of the TDC scene, like little relaxing towns.
The first community site I was an admin of, Iklik-it.com, was totally democratic, had friendly mods/admins that listened to the members and we never had flamewars. If the whacked-out owner of the space it was hosted on wouldn't have sold it, it would still be here today. The second site I was an Admin of was Klik Academy, which lasted for a couple of years. Again democratic and friendly, this time killed by flamewars that migrated from TDC to KA, then stuck in recode. Total Klik was another place to go and always died of hacking from outside, not flamewars or dying out on the inside. There will always be an alternative where people can go who get sick of how things are handled here on TDC. Not being allowed to criticise WILL piss people off. It's not childish rebelling, it is a reflection of childish and stubborn handling of a site.
Right now we are working hard on making Gamebuilder a real professional, pretty and easy to use community site which will be totally democratic, with equal chances for everybody who wants to get somewhere with this hobby. I hope we can make it a nice, lasting alternative to this place. Not because I hate TDC, but because TDC needs an alternative to have a reason to be good.
Then I admire your efforts to step forward and attempt to make it a decent site Hayo. I've seen the exact same censorship behaviour there as what we get here.
Didn't Adam engage in a vendetta against Robert Rule (Rouel?) when he became admin because nobody here knew him, you can only imagine my LOLage when I went to Gamebuilder earlier to see a new admin who wasn't even signed up to the site. Which is even funnier considering the size of the site. They mustn't need more than 2 admins surely?
Also the journalistic quality of the news posts is the worst of any Klik site. Starting a post with "My friends game..." screams blog, not respectable community site.
Okay except Klik-Me's early days. Making negative comments about the users preferred games isn't really a good thing to include in news posts either.
Person A: Blah blah blah blah blah
Person B: No u, blah blah blah blah blah
It goes back and forth and I don't have the time to read it these days. I just keep chugging along programming, and answering people's coding questions. Until then, let me contribute my blah blah blah blah blah
I'd like to stay away from personal vendettas, as all the people I think are cool seem to hate each other, but yes, GB needs a lot of work, and will get a lot of work. Not to replace TDC, but to offer a worthy alternative.
