I'm getting a Wii - what games should I get with it? Planning on playing quite a lot of multiplayer games, so going to get Wii Sports and Wii Play probably. What others are good? Is Zelda any good? Also, can you get on the internet via your Wii?
Btw, yes I am totally ignorant of modern consoles before you ask. This will be my first since the GameCube (which I liked but had to sell).
Yes, but the internet browser has a one-time fee of 500 Wii Points. I suggest Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Paper Mario, Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon, Metroid Prime 3, some others I can't think of.
Right, I've ordered it, and I've got a Wii + Wii Sports, Tiger Woods 09 (for free) and Wii Play + remote for £210 delivered. Not bad really for a console, three games and two controllers.
Heard that Mario Kart was good, might get that too, but I'll get it after I've finished messing about with these three games I've got.
Multi playah- Brawl and Kart (durr), Wii Sports (but that's free anyroad), Mario Strikers
Single playah- Galaxy and Zelda.
Internet app is now 250 points, so about... £3 in our money. It's pretty useful too. Runs Flash and all that kind of nonsense so you can play Youtube on it. For whatever reason.
Avoid Wii Play (or maybe just get for the controller) and Mario Party. The best of the series are on the Cube. Thought about getting some GC multiplayer games? Thems ultra cheap now.
Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'll definite bear them in mind when I go Wii shopping.
The Wiimote was about £27 off Amazon, and Wii Play was £28 so I figured a quid for Wii Play isn't bad! I plan on inventing some drinking games with it anyway.
This internet thing, does it only work if you have wireless broadband in your house? I'm not on the internet stuff in my house cos I've not moved in yet. And can you play online with it?
The Nintendo USB thingy doesn't need setting up or stuff, but yea any B/G band Wifi router or USB dongle will work with the Wii.
I think you can get a USB to Lan adapter if you really need it though. Online play is golden in Mario Kart, not so great in Brawl or Strikers unless you're playing with online friends.
Don't forget the Virtual Console that's built into the Wii, you can download SNES, NES, N64, Megadrive, Master System games at a cost... I have never experienced Super Metroid before, till I downloaded it

you have Endless Ocean too? The only other person I knew with it was Slink.. we used to go diving together until he sold his copy
Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles is a great shooter with intense graphics. 2 Player mode also.
Mario Stikers is also pretty good, even if you hate football (Like me). It is also one of the msot competetive games I've ever played online.
My Wii Game collection consits of:
Wii Sports (as standard)
Wii Play
Call of Duty 3 - Brilliant
Mario Galaxy - Awesome
Mario Kart - Chuffin' Brilliant
Trauma Center - Wow! Completely Hooked
Endless Ocean - Chilled, relaxing game
Red Steel - Not played much but seems ok
Carnival - Good Multiplayer Fun
Wii Fit - Love this
Ratatouille - Bought for the missus but not a bad game
Smash bros if you liked the other ones
Mario galaxy is good but not as good as mario 64, but a lot better than sunshine.
the new wario sidescroller looks good, I think it comes out soon, pending average-great reviews I'll be getting it
Mario Kart sucked, might be better if you're gonna play multiplayer or online but single player is awful
Virtual console is ok if you're into it but I personally think paying to download stuff is lame, I'd rather scour ebay to buy the originals.
Wii sports boxing is fun
My sister is waiting for the computer, so I can't sit here thinking very long... but anywho... I just played Metroid Prime 3 today. Love the crap out of it. Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Mario Galaxy are all good'uns... TLOZ TP is underrated, I thought it was good. Mercury Meltdown is fun for awhile if you're into puzzle games... There are more, but I gotta scoot-a mah boot-a and skeedaddle.
(I have a RIDICULOUS amount of wii games. I may post some more good'uns later.)
Well he asked what games are good, which is an opinion. . . so there's mine, he can take it or leave it. Anyway, if you have a wii it's probably the #1 must buy.
Not really keen on Smash Bros, the GameCube version was okay but nothing more. A lot better multiplayer though I suppose.
Don't like Resi Evil games either, well not the ones I've played (the ps1 games). If Zelda's as easy as Joe says then I won't get it because the Wind Waker was pants for exactly the same reason. Might get Mario Galaxy, sounds good if it's better than Sunshine for GC (which I thought was a good game).
Not American so that RPG one is out of the question. And I don't have a Virtual Console whatever that is.
Does anyone know if there's any good football/soccer games for Wii? I mean proper ones, Pro Evo, Fifa etc. Oh, and I'd like to get a baseball game if there are any in England.
I don't like Smash Bros on the Wii. It really bores me, the fighting gets confusing (I usually think another player is me for about 20 seconds) and it's awfully repetitive. It really just is a button mashing game.

Looks like you found the problem if you're playing it as a button basher then you'll lose - just like SC4, Tekken and friends. If you play as a pro then it gets really tough and strategic.
Resident evil 4 is really quite different to the other games, Boothman. In fact it was my favourite game of the last generation. I recommend it although I'm not sure how good the Wii version's motion controls are, they could be tacked on as a quick gimmick to justify re releasing an old game. (could get the GC version though lolz)
Nevertheless it's a fantastic game.
I bought the PC version of Resident Evil 4 and hated it. Didn't you think it felt messy and unprofessional? I hated that there were no graphics/video options at all.
Andy's right, don't waste your money on it like I did - I've bought so many(that I wish I didn't) and now my memory is full so I have to delete games then re-download the others I've paid for. So much less hastle on PC emulators. :/
