I know it's been asked a million times. My sister was ogling at some of the art at nitrome.com, and she wants some tutorials so she can draw better and faster for our games. This makes me very happy, so I want to find some. I've seen this request a bajigillion times, but I can't remember any of the answers. I've googled it, and all the tutorials come up with really simple stuff. What's the BEST pixel art tutorial? (I probably need an isometric one too.) She can already draw well, but she wants some advanced tutorials.
Then I'll make your (and everyone elses') day and give you this link:
http://www.wayofthepixel.net/pixelation/index.php?topic=3467.0
The first post contains a continuely updated list of links to everything a pixel artist might need. Go there, or FAIL EPIC!
Thanks for the link, but that's a little too broad. It's the same as googling it. I was thinking more specific-- one or two. I don't want to drudge through all those links to find a good one. (Especially considering the things that some pixel artists draw)
Thanks. As I expected, she read some, and then sort of went, "meh" before going on to "pick background music while she worked" which then turned into watching funny American idol stuff on youtube. She said she got some stuff out of it, but I don't know. Thanks again! She read for awhile, who knows. We'll see.
I learned a lot from of Dines' graphics tutorials on the Articles page. I.e. the Making a Pretty Game and Anyone Can Animate ones. The ones -Liam/Slink- suggested are good too, but more specific.

I think she read that one. I'm pretty sure it's the one she got the most out of. I'll probably read these later, they'll probably be handy for me too. Thanks!
I read through that fat article on pixel art last night and it left me feeling quite a bit tired, lol. I could see why your sis went and did something else if she read that one.

I found the "anyone can animate" one, but I don't really need that. I do all the animations, and I don't think she'll ever quite get the knack for it. I couldn't find the "making a pretty game" one.
Alspal, I know what you mean. But sometimes it helps to read up on stuff. She was the one that asked for them, so I figured I'd find them if that's what she wants.

You learn from experience, but sometimes it takes a few days/weeks/months to get the experience you'd otherwise get from reading stuff. Some things are like really obvious and those articles point out which stuff are obvious.

That looks to be a good article... but I can't read it! I have to highlight the words to see them. I wonder if it's the skin... How do I fix this? I want to read it!
