Not sure if im actually ASKING for someone to draw it more i need advice as well ^^

I need to find a fitting background for my game Peko Falls and i am new to pixel art and cant really do a background. Is there anywhere i can get a background for free or if theres someone willing to do it? The only issue is the game will have more than one background so its not like a small thing, if someone WANTED to do it theyd have to be willing to do about 6-10 different backgrounds ><

The style of my game is sort of nature themed as the character is very nature inspired, everything revolves around trees, fruits, veg that kind of thing. Heres 2 screen shots of the game so you guys can kind of tell what im after, you can probably tell it NEEDS a background because some of the game isnt packed in with trees.

you mentioned "not packed with trees"

if its a foresty type area you might just want to take that tree and make it a duller or darker hue and repeat it in the background. different sized trees as well to give it variety.

it looks fine as it is maybe just more gradients or shades in the sky and some clouds and a sun?

Thing is i dont think i have the skills to do that and make it look good! lol the first area is like a country side so with a few trees but not that many, the next level will work with that idea, just i cant even make the sky look good lol

Umm, I red your comment that you don't keep yourself as a pixel artist, so I have few advices. Now I had this kind of problem myself. I made huge pictures which wasn't looking good. So nowadays I make small pixeled pictures. It is a lot easier and they are better looking than poor big pixel art. Also you can make them faster and if you like more coding like me, your projects don't die on graphics.

But if you need a feedback of your pictures, well here's what I thought. Now you trees shadowing is not working. Um it seems that you have done leaves out of balls, and just made one ball and duplicated it. Now this messes up the shadows. As you can see there is shadows inside the tree. Also the head of the peawine looks like it is cut down. There would be great to have somekind of end there.

In a lot of cases that's true... I seem to be the oddball when I say that having small sprites everywhere I look is depressing. There's no detail. Everyone does small anymore. But, it is true that smaller is easier.

Your art looks pretty good for not being a spriter, Joellie! Neomonkey is right that the shading is a teeny bit goofy, but you should still leave some in there. If it weren't so pronounced it would be a good effect. They look like Dr. Suess trees-- like each ball is a separate tree top on a stalk. If you blend it a bit more it'll look great!

I'd better shut up now, because my spriting skills are no good!

Erm lol I wanted to trees to have that kind of effect. The whole feel of the game is supposed to be rounded like that. I didnt copy and paste the balls actually i set the shape and then shaded accordingly, i need to blend the actual bushes a bit more though.

Problem solved anyway ive done my own background thats not too bad

Looking quite nice! You might want to up the contrast between the foreground and background a bit though. Make one or the other just a bit darker/lighter.

Like shab says, try making the background contrasting or at least make sure you can see what is the ground at all times.

I shall be sure to attempt that lol Also with the background i might white wash it to make it look less bold. So the contrast will be there

Your backround looks nice. And for the wine I think alspal has point in making the end. Or you can just make it round and making a bit ball like shading.
