People down the Wii's games because those games do not appeal to them. The notion of flailing around like a hyperactive four year old is not an exciting concept to most traditional, nowadays-called core, gamers. (The game referanced was Wii Music, by the way.)
The Wii lacks a decent library of traditional games. It has a fairly big library of casual games, such as Wii Fit or Wii Sports, which is okay; That's pretty much the angle that Nintendo was going for with the Wii, leaving all the heavy lifting of core gaming to Sony and Microsoft. The big stinker for most people isn't that the Wii has a massive casual gamer base, but that the interface - the motion-controlled remote and nunchuk - isn't being used for maximum potential.
What "real" gamers (haha, I hate on casual gamers for no reason) see is a new way to become immersed into the game, and what the large majority of the Wii's library offers does not capitalise on this concept; The games that do are often repulsive. The shining gems in this immersion are Metroid Prime 3 and Mario Kart Wii; Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Mario Galaxy, and Twilight Princess are decent games, to be sure, but they don't combine the gameplay with control. SSBB has the motion-control tacked on, used only for Smash attacks. TP suffers from multi-platforming and standardization, making the controls feel superficial and forced. SMG stands out of these games in the way that it actually utilizes the remote in a way that helps the game, but it's still largely as unimmersive as SM64 was.
And a lot of the games are aimed at children and hence overly simple, like Wii Music. Can't have little Timmy becoming engaged with his activity! The graphics are also childish so that said children can easily distinguish game from reality. Can't have little Tommy thinking he really just pulled someone's spine out and thinking it's okay!
TL;DR: The Wii has potential as a console, but it's entire library just flat-out sucks.

You're missing my point entirely. Phredreeke does it to wind people up (in any console debate thread) then calls them fanboys when they defend something they like
I agree that the technology isn't being used to its full potential enough. But its library hardly sucks. I have ooodles of Wii games that are easily called great games.
Some of them don't use motion controls much, if at all. I frankly find the wiimote+nunchuk scheme to be more comfortable for traditional styled games with little to no motion stuff than gamepads. Easier to veg on the couch without cramping your arms together. There are button shortages sometimes, but since when has a good game been defined by the complexity of its control scheme?
Needless to say, all consoles have their strong points, and it just so happens that the use of those strong points varies.

Infact, according to Metacritic it only has 1 game less than the PS3 in the 90%+ range. And even then the PS3/360's highest scorers are multiplatform titles (GTA IV, COD4, Oblivion). Numbers aside nothing, not even any recent game from any dev, has persuaded me enough to play a different game to Smash Bros Brawl
Infact going off the ratings alone it seems Nintendo (as a dev) scores the most 90%+ hits so far this gen. Make of that what you will "b-b-b-but they also make bad games" which doesn't affect the good games
And I like any milkshake. Just as I now like any console. But by defending one you're labelled a fanboy, lulz? Infact my PSP gets more play time than my DS at the mo (might change when I get the new Castlevania :3).

Dost ye have a smash bros online friend code? I bought the game and haven't really played it since. I am without friends to play it with. The one friend I played melee with back in the day moved away long ago.
O' course, I wouldn't be very good.
I have yet to try a vanilla milkshake actually... but I am very fond of getting a large chocolate shake at Steak 'n' Shake along with shoestring fries and a steakburger. Yumola.
I enjoyed Super Smash Bros because it was funny. Brawl tries to hard to be funny, by actually... trying to be funny. Melee was funny just because of accidents or "glitches" (I use the word glitch loosely, because they hardly qualify as glitches, but are still probably unintended.)

I don't play it online, I don't like playing any fighter online though especially twitch based fighters like SF and Brawl. Sorry hoping to join a friends tournament (One of the best competative Peach players going) when I move to the US though, you don't seem to get many round here!
Eh? It tries to be funny? I'd love to know where! Also love to know how that affects gameplay

You know, I get what you mean! Although, I wouldn't characterize melee's funny-ness as glitches... :\ I dunno... something about its atmosphere was just right.
