If I opened up a community like TDC, would anyone care to visit it? It won't be the same as TDC however (and it shouldn't be either) but would it be possible to get any visitors?
I would visit if it had something to visit for.
TDC has lots of members, a good staff, lots of downloads, a helpful forum, etc...
If you were going to make a community you would need something to attract people.
But, I would visit. I think it would be nice to have another community around.
You just have to make sure to keep it updated.
Your just jealous that you're not as awesome as me.
(And my megaman avatar )
To be honest though, I think it'll be tough. There have been a fair few other click related sites, but I don't think (m)any have been great successes.
If you have a strong idea for something that will make your site different, then go for it - but it really will have to be something quite special.
You'd need to get a lot of members, pretty much instantly. You can't expect your site to grow gradually, because people won't stick around and wait for others to join.
A competition might help. Not one long competition, because then people will only visit your site at the start, and around the closing date. Perhaps something more like Peblo's "Tourey" where people have to create a new game each week - that would also help you quickly bulk up your downloads section (as would small contests like the 20-event comp). Right now would probably be bad timing because of all the other competitions going on.
Once there's a big'un, it's hard to make liluns. It's like trying to compete with microsoft or apple. But go for it, dude! Mark Radon and I are also trying to get regular members on our sites. Once I hold the compo and Splotches is released, maybe I can...

Thanks for the replies guys, at the moment I'm still brainstorming for ideas so if I do manage to make a website I would be ready with a draft
If you have any other thoughts that might go good with a good clickteam related (or all game making products related) website, please share your opinions
Well, there's GB, which is a lot like TDC. It's got its share of fans and followers, but despite being codedly better, much of the community still visits TDC.
On the contrary, there have been lots of other klik sites before and after TDC. All of them have had a good share of visitors. But you'll need a lot of features (including the normal ones), an active admin, something unique, and enough money for a server that can handle all the bandwidth.
Disclaimer: Any sarcasm in my posts will not be mentioned as that would ruin the purpose. It is assumed that the reader is intelligent enough to tell the difference between what is sarcasm and what is not.
I have made my mind and decided to postpone this idea to a later date cause I don't seem to have that much money or time because of my upcoming exams and work. But I may do a website for my future games

i would NOT say it is codedly better. its shinier yes. but its got its fair share of bugs and glitches and for some reason its just not that appealing. i mean i love the staff but... theres just not enough of regularly updated content.
Nope, Klik sites outside of TDC don't flourish at all. Even Rikus' own Clickisland fell apart.
As it has already been said, they have members but they never seem to explode with content like TDC has.
