I like it. Theres a good contrast between the sprites and the background. My only beef is that it looks a little too saturated, are you using the default palette?
It's nice to see you working on pixel art again. Just a few things I have.
I think Dr.James means about contrast is your, uh, stairs and the lighter floor color. Are they stairs, or a wall? I'm fairly sure they're stairs but other people might not. Try adding a darker shade on the step itself. Above or below world work, probably just below.
Also, your rock tile does not flow well. I know your trying to break up the monotony, but you really shouldn't be doing what I think you are. It looks like you made a wall, created a top tile, and a bottom tile, and the in between. Then stacked them continuosly up and down. I used to do that. While this may be for a top down RPG that I want to make, it might still help here.
*grins* I've never stopped woking on pixel art. lol It's just that I don't post my work very often. Yes, it's just a bunch of tiles I made that I slapped together. The final product will be better shaded.

Usually when I see people working with tiles, most only use one picture per level, and that's what I see going on there.
When you have one by it self it looks really nice, but in the grand scheme of things, it looks extremly repetative. Recently I've been attempting to draw several at once and then break them up as needed. IT takes a hell of alot longer but it looks nicer. The second thing I try to do is instead of copying and pasting tiles in the editor, I draw them all into one image, and bring that image into the editor, it makes the background looking alot less repetative in my opinion, and it keeps me from having to go back and forth creating new tiles for any tile related situation that comes up.
