totally missed that. but thats exactly my point. more articles need to get exclusive front page mention more often. i think articles get the short end of the stick sometimes on coverage.
Well If it doesn't get talked about enough, why don't we just make more now? Even if they are Basic no brainer ones it could still be useful for the noobs. I think alot of people would like to see art articles. (No near occasion of pun intended)
id rather have fewer top quality articles, than tons of noobish basic articles.
the point is the site doesnt make big enough a deal out of articles. hardly ever front page news posts, and when there is its just one massive post about all the good ones that gets overlooked by all the other posts.
im still waiting for the daily spotlight to become what its supposed to be. it doesnt even refresh. or get updated "daily". i think its better than at first, but an automated script so it updates or refreshes daily or multi-daily to new or different things. new articles, projects, downloads, reviews, and popular forum threads.
Yea, and it seems like the daily spotlight is always on the same few projects. I think the article section is already overwhelming, so I tend to agree with the fewer top-quality idea.
Well me and club have been tossing ideas back and forth about a new Resources section (ohh doesnt that name make you smile) I do not want to tell to much about it, but again 2009 is going to be a great year for TDC! You can bet this choco chip muffin i am now holding in my hand! (yes i am feeling better, woohoo! Praise all food!)

Nah, I think the articles page is better left alone. Ironically, ratings seem to be based much, much more on popularity than quality - since I know there's one article I made which had no sense but was voted highly. And Pixelthief's PRD article was over-rated on quality, even though it had some good points, but not as good as his previous one. I also like the Trigonometry one, but that one was a bit overcomplicated, especially for newbie trig users. There was another article which got a 1.2 average, which really wasn't a bad one at all. Honestly, it feels like most klikers just rate it on the writer's previous article when they can't understand the article.
So, I dunno. I think the articles are well.. not bad, but not easy to understand either. Not many of them deserve to be front paged, and personally, I check the articles page every week or so in case there's something interesting. It's got the level of popularity it deserves, I think.
But yeah, a compilation of the best articles would be good

where does that NOT happen on this site? people over or underrate games all the time. forum threads are always biased to some degree. i actually think that is completely wrong. most of the stuff pixeltheif writes is brilliant and some of the most well written articles on the site. yours a close second or third (as you two are some of the few that actually churn out regular articles)
if not as a front news post id like to at least see the dailyspotlight workng properly and displaying more than it does, more often than it does.
but i agree with rikus. 2009 is gonna be a good year for click.

That was my point exactly People would rate articles based on the creator, some of the longer ones without even reading. But yeah, it happens.
Now the problem is this - if we do have some sort of front page article thing, who's to say which articles are better? I had a fairly average article on the top 10 list for literally years. Heck, Peblo's joke article was there for a few months too. But then, some people don't really trust the admins to pick out which things should be recommended and which don't, especially since admins tend to overlook things.
So, guys, even if we have, say, something that sorts out articles by topics or so, what would be the best way to decide which is the best?
