I've searched the internet for tutorials of doing this and I just cant seem to find any. What I want to do is to play a youtube video inside my flash document. There are tutorials that let you browse and play youtube videos in flash but they are overly complicated.

All I want to do is to create a placeholder that plays a youtube video that I specify. So, not a youtube player per se. Just something that will play a youtube video if I put in the URL when Im creating the swf file. I understand that youtube sort of hides the flv file in the URL but there has to be a workaround for that.

You could just download the .fla directly from youtube by using a video downloader, then host and embed it yourself! I use https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5229 there is most likely a better one though
