ok, well yesterday i took my fans out of my comp to clean them, cause my comp was overheating, when i put them back and plugged my comp back it and pushed the power button, fans started spinning and lights turned on, then, it all shut off again, thats what keeps happining. i can no longer turn it on, i get nothing on my monitor, i get no beeps, just some lights, spinning fans, then a shut off. the only thing that wasnt put back the same was the metal coolant thing on top of the processor, it was on backwards. any ideas?

Try reseating the processor. I'm afraid you may have burnt it out.

When you don't hear any beeps, that generally means one or more of your hardware didn't "check", which means somethings fried, and the motherboard wont let the PC start up.

Take it out, put new element stuff on the CPU and put it back in.

Is the shut down random? A friend of mine would get to various points of his boot sequence before a crash just because the element paste wasn't on right. But yea, it doesn't sound too good this.

You can reset the bios chip on the motherboard, but that may even worsen the condition of your pc. So it's best that you contact a technician.

I didn't mean reset. I meant reseat. Which means take it out and plug it back in. I've had many computer repair jobs consist simply of that.

I had a similar problem, consisting of my computer shutting down randomly. It was ignored until it got to the point that it never turned back on. It was taken to Best Buy to find that the power supply had been defective and had shorted the motherboard (or fried it, or whatever happens to motherboards besides melting and snapping in half.) So yeah, now I run this computer.

Also, on a semi-unrelated note, this thread is in the wrong category. It should be in General Chat, not in Klik Coding Help. Unless your computer was made by Clickteam, of course.
