I'm working on a side-view racer and I need to know what kind of track pieces you would prefer.

Tiled Track pieces would make possible a level editor, but unique, different track peices would make it more interesting.

I myself can't decide which to do, and I can't work on the track pieces at all until I know what most people would prefer.

Thanks to whoever votes!

Could you not do both? One tile could generate a larger, more organic piece in game. If you are using external files too then anyone could make larger pieces as well as regular 1:1 tiles.

I personaly prefer tiles.
Especially if you submit the level editor too.

That sounds like a good idea, and if I make both on a 64x64 or 64²x64² scale It would still be possible for a level editor.

I'm thinking unique. Level editors are awesome and all, but better for games that need it. Racing games... I'm not so inclined to make levels for unless they have some original gameplay property that calls for it.

The gameplay concept is in progress, but for the most part it'll have an insane twist to it. Ramps, loops + inverted versions, Driving up vertical slopes, and more when I think of them. Here's the project page. http://create-games.com/project.asp?view=main&id=1523

Anyways let's just keep on topic and vote which is preferred. (I still like James' idea. )

I know this is way after the fact, but my suggestion is to do both. Unique track pieces for your own tracks, then tiled track pieces for a level editor.

Yeah, I decided to go with some time ago. Thanks for your opinion anyway!
