Don't I know it Once I get my hands on a SNES my life will be complete. Teh girlfriend has one somewhere though. We have a PS1 and DC somewhere but they're all UK Pal like and they're brilliant.

That reminds me.

Was the Virtual Boy any good? I think the general consensus is no, but would it be worth paying $100/£50/10000yen for? There's a shop near me that has 3 of them, boxed and working.

NES, SNES, N64, Genesis, PS1, but you ain't gettin' none-of-em. The genesis and PS1 don't have the correct cables anyway. X)

I'm still frustrated at my brother for giving away our SNES V1 years ago even though it belonged to both of us and I told him not to. >:| Now he tries to claim that the SNES V2 I bought to replace it belongs to him too. Or he did anyway. I don't think he really cares about it anymore...

This gives me an idea. I could use one of my classic systems as an Alcuhbuswick prize.

Goodwill is even easier.

Upon last checkage, there were three N64's at my local goodwill for $8, $8, and $15. I think one had an expansion pack. That's far cheaper than the game store's $40! It's lucky for there to be three though.

I should really sell some stuff but i just can't bring myself to part with any of my consoles or computers. Maybe a game or two though.
Actually I do have a pal ps1 that we just never use anymore. But it has a really hard time loading games. It's my Dad's technically so i guess i can't sell it either...

Uh i guess i'm wasting your time here so i'll stop now.

I have a PAL PS1 (the original model) in working condition, but I'm keeping it in case someone in 20 years will buy it from me for millions.

I also recently bought a new PS2 but I'm keeping the bigger old model, I actually liked it better like that for some reason.

They all operate at different frequencies. We have our little ol 50hz which meant our games ran at higher resolutions (I think) whereas you chaps had lower resolutions but a smoother 60hz. One things fo sho; the original Twilight Zone song from Sonic 1 was more like a lullaby on Pal systems. The more graphically-heavy GC and Xbox games that couldn't be ran at higher resolutions were locked to 60hz which caused a bit of a ruckus as they wouldn't work on some peoples TVs.
But that was all years ago now and since every TV has global standards now it's time for games consoles to be 100% region free but nope. Thank you PS3, DS Lite and Gameboy for trying through /rant.

A friend had an adapter to play US games on his UK Snes and I had a disc (Relokick!) to play US games on my Amiga.

I'd imagine they don't want to make them region free, because then it would be harder to charge different people different prices depending on location.

Regionalized marketing for the lose. Plus it has to do with copyright issues and differing policies, not just prices. Like software rating boards and usage terms and whatnot--it's a bit of a headache.

But thats the thing, some systems are going towards it now. Sony and several smaller parties got Lik-Sang (major importer) shut down, but at the same time both the PSP and PS3 games are fully region. But handhelds have always been region free likely because it's only recently that we have global standards for TVs. Some people move around too and get buggered by region coding, if I move to the US then WTF is going to happen to my European Wii and all the VC games I bought?

Heh, even though some PSN games are region locked. It's like they're saying we can play imported games but only if you fight for it.

i live in the orange county la county area of california

i dont think ive ever seen an open pawn shop, the swap meats are all crap for technology, and gamestops dont carry old merchandise anymore. they dont even buy (or even sell i think) xbox games anymore. my only option is to find some small out of the way specialty shop (most of the ones are gone that i remember existing) or ebay.

we have goodwills and redcross stores. but they never have stuff like that. its always like vcr's and old broken crap. they do have other interesting crap though lol.

and gamestop is like the only used game store out here. there used to be gamequest but the only ones i know about are closed. gamestop is taking over.

there was once an NES at a yard sale but they wanted like an obscene ammount of money for it.
