well, ive never done it. usually anything can be accomplished with a quick google search, but this is the most god aweful pain in the ass non existant peiece of crap in the world. ive spent the whole day seaching for new drivers for my crappy

ATI Mobility Redeon 9000 IGP (which appearantly was discontinued)
ATI PCI IDE Bus Master Controller
ATI RS300/RS300M Accelerated Graphics Card
and the list goes on.

all i managed to find was ATI's website (and the website is like a maze of horrifying horribleness.) and thousands of free driver updaters (which none of them are free, they just perform a free scan and make you pay to fix it)

anyone have any suggestions on how i can go about this before i murder my computer for life? you have no idea how frustrating it is to waste all this time on retarded nonsense like this.

EDIT: oh yeah, and i also managed to make the first one on that list go back in time, and yet somehow its completely updated, even with the drivers that i downloaded.

hmm, I've never had this problem as i use nvidia gpu's on all my computers, I think they put all their legacy drivers into one exe that you could download. I'm surprised ATI made it difficult.

Oh, I do know how frustrating it is. It's INFINITELY frustrating, I'm with ya. I've spent years with annoying hardware and drivers (days at a time trying to fix single things) that needed updated, since I tinker with computers as a hobby, and I've got grey hairs from it. Driverguide.com is a good one. ATI's site should have what you need, driver searching is usually just a matter of patience--I know since that's usually a priority when repairing people's computers. Driver updating is right up there with Printers on the list of computer awfulties.

I recently had to update someone's graphics card drivers to repair the flickering effect it had, and it took me all day... but I finally did it. Just hang in there, google like nuts and follow all promising links, and you shall win in the end. Also, it helps to treat yourself to something when you win... like maybe some ice cream.

Maybe try Omega Drivers. I use them for my ATi x1600, but they haven't been updated in a while. Mr. G seems pretty much on the ball of it!

If its discontinued you can bet its either renamed or included in another driver pack. Sometimes its for an entire series.

the first one doesnt work (none of them are there) the second one is currently downloading(BIG FAT BEFORE I EVEN FINISH MY POST EDIT: nope, it gave me a big fat not compatable with my hardware garbage talking to messagemajigger), and the last one i found already like 30 times (for several different needed drivers), once you put in the key and try to download it, it makes you download "driver detective" another one of those "free" programs. (yeah, my butt).

thanks for trying tho! lol.

yeah, supposedly rather than go with catalyst version 6.14.ect (which mine runs off of) i shouldve been able to go with version 7.1, 6.11 or 6.12 according to the "experts" but they never worked. worst.

If it was a relatively newer series ATI now does bundle pack type downloads like Nvidia. But like James says try the Omega Drivers if it works

Dunno if you are using XP or Vista but in XP:

Start -> Right click "My computer" -> Properties -> Hardware -> Device Manager
Double click on any device that needs drivers
Go to the "Details" tab
Choose Hardware IDs

there should be a number called something like VEN_10DE (this is the id number for Nvidia for example). Just pay attention to "10DE" and disregard "VEN_".

This number is followed by "&" and then something like DEV_0421. Again, only pay attention to the number after the underscore. This is the id number for the device.

Go to pcidatabase.com and search around. For example, if you search for a vendor called 10DE you get a list of Nvidia devices. Much in the same way, Ati will have a specific ID number and so will all the devices you need drivers for.

Lemme know if you have questions
