He got some very nice tutorials on how to make vista/XP faster and some nice programs you can use for it.
I helped me so much so I thought I would make a post about it, if any of you struggles with the slowness of vista/XP.
If your computer needs third party software to run faster, then you're not taking care of your computer the way you should be. Windows is fully capable of sustaining itself if the person using it isn't stupid. I use Vista Home Premium, and everything runs no faster or slower then when I used Windows XP and in fact, runs pretty well in comparison to bench tests with similar hardware.
Then again, I built my computer. I can't vouch for manufactured computers because as far as I know, every single one of them sucks. I've used them, and they all make you use a very bloated operating system, and if you try to buy your own version of Windows, you find yourself without half of the hardware working because you need very specific drivers. It's pretty pathetic.
Okay you don't need to freak out just because you love windows, and it doesnt need additional software to work. That's not what I wrote, he explains how to tweak windows with its own settings. I have a laptop thats manufactured and I'm pretty sure many people got that, and eventually the system gets slow. Just sharing my experience here.

I used to do that all the time... Even when it wasn't necessary... but now I'm always worried about losing something or having to reinstall everything or not remembering to deauthorize iTunes or running out of Office 07 licenses... so I just take care of everything now.
I'm using XP on my iMacs and Macbook and they seem pretty snappy to me. I've never had age related problems due to old files, old stuff in the registry either. As far as system support goes I only have XP, Bootcamp drivers and optional hacked video drivers. AVG is deactivated from launching at startup too. Infact the only problem with computers I've had came from buying a cheap laptop (well it was expensive but with cheap components for 'added value', you know the sort...).
But all that said some people at my university used to run Windows XP Black (or whatever the name was) which was just the core components of XP and their similar spec machines did boot faster than mine.

And yet again when this subject is brought up I am obligated to tell my story about weight loss ads whenever Balding Overweight Man was mentioned in a forum topic.
Sorry, OMC, but it still doesn't have ads because of Balding Overweight Man. Let's try this...
