Whilst I suppose they'll use the DS engine and its garish colours and make a pig's ear of the whole thing, if they can just incorporate Gold's pale and pastel palette, melancholy atmosphere and glimmering soundtrack this could be a wonderful thing.
It's all about the art direction and the world, Game Freak/Pokemon Company, please don't mess it up.
Awww, you just reminded me that before the English version of Pokemon was released I saw it in a branch of a serious chain of stores. I thought it was weird but I trusted the store and bought it, and turns out it was some badly translated home made version (though they made a proper box and everything).
Most of the game I had no idea what people were talking to me, it was like "Hi, did yuo KNOW socks lask oiajwe lkajsd Pikachu?"
Gameplay footage! Not sure if thats the TV's fault but it looks like the graphics have more contrast, its raining and Chikorita is following the player? Awesome, so long as its optional!
Walking-on-the-spot animations really grind my gears. Venture into most 8-bit RPG towns and everyone seems stuck in some everlasting voodoo dance curse.
