The end of an era. 13 years after its original announcement, DNF sinks with its developer. Oh man! It was the ultimate venture capital driven game, and now it's never coming out. Like always, then, but still. We can't even pretend anymore.
That is awful news, not so much for Duke Nukem Forever as I wasn't expecting it to be released any time soon anyway, but 3D realms deserved a diferent fate.
This is mega weak. I've been waiting for this game since it was announced.
Ts;dr-
Was a mega fan of Duke 3D. Had the original and then bought some mega pack when I was still way under 18 years old. Even had my first paper round JUST to save up for it D: and i've 'gasmed over every screenshot and video released since.
RIP Duke. I've got low hopes for Trilogy just because every Duke game barring 1, 2 and 3D didn't cut it.
Lol, you guys are like the only one who seem to not expect this. It floated around the Net quickly. I mean it's ridiculous, these people were working full time on it, and they made no progress. 13 years is ridiculous. It took less time to make the Empire State Building. Heck, it took less time to make the atomic bomb. Toady One, a mathematics professor working part-time on his game managed to make Slaves to Armok and half of DF ever since Duke Nukem Forever was launched. Derek Yu started learning to click, formed and disbanded Blackeye Software, created Aquaria and ED, started TIGSource, got a degree.
DNF was half a generation ago. The action games genre was remade in all that time, including bullet time, the HL2 engine, TF2, all sorts of DirectX versions.

If it is real then I think it had a lot of potential (remember that the above is unfinished gameplay - which I guess is a surprise considering how long it has been in development). But yeah, pretty gutted about this news

I'm almost sure it isn't fake, the original author of the video, Brian Brewer, was one of the character animators at 3D realms. He used bits of the game to showcase his work as he is aparently looking for a job.
