P.S. i have seen it, and i was expecting disappointment but was pleasantly surprised! And my gf liked it, and she hates what i like usually (which is why i drag her out to see stuff like this, to make her suffer! lol), so it can't be all bad.
I don't normally like Michael Bay stuff but yea, me and the girlfriend saw that last one in its closing week at the cinema just for the sake of it. It wasn't brilliant or anything but a nice to chillax too... Except that big final battle really lost my attention.
I'm not a fan of Shia either, or that Megan Fox... Or Bay!
It looks really cool actually. When I heard about the first Transformers movie I thought "ridiculous" at first, but then it turned out to be really good! Unfortunately, we probably won't see it- we haven't seen a movie in about 2 years or so. :0
I just laugh at the end of the first one when that soldier is saying to Shia "You have to do it, you're a soldier now!" like .. what? There was so much lame acting in it. Uber cheesey lameness. I did like it, but only because I took it for what it was and it was meant to cater to all ages so it needed that certain cheese factor.
Not really dying to see the second one though, but I probably will soon.
I didn't mean that poor acting meant it was okay, I think what I was trying to say was that if it was totally serious all the time during the first movie it's not catering as well to younger audiences, that's why they put some funny parts in and cheesy-ish bits. Of course they could have gone all out serious and made it some crazy bad-ass motherf--ker movie but then it would be more adult-suited, probably contain a lot of profanity and more bleedings.
But that would take Transformers into a different context (the wrong context, too) as a serious adult film. Dropping ratings, audience size and revenue. Really, it's an adaptation of all the old cartoons etc and toys and all that which is nostalgic for some people into a movie with some cool effects and crazy robot transformations. Like a modern reliving of an old thing.
I think they just ended up with a lot of hit-and-miss with some of the script. Or perhaps it just wasn't played convincingly enough by the actors.

Lol I actually like Michael bay (bad boys anyone?) LaBeouf: Great actor, and loved him in Disturbia! Fox she can act she just needs some more stuff to do!
Adding to that I had transformers as a kid and wham perfect movie for me!

You are right, Rob, it doesn't. However at the same time it makes little difference to younger audiences too. Most kids won't walk out half way through because they've seen better acting, they only come to see one thing - big robots knocking seven-bells out of each other. And to be honest, so do the older adults.
On another note, i think the script was more at fault than the acting - really all Megan Fox, Shia et al were asked to do was run and dive everywhere. The script was light on dialogue and therefore there was little for them to work with. This is common with most action films.
AND, this film was (to be honest!) just one long Hasbro advert to try and sell more toys, after all!

So did i, love the nostalgia (in fact, i still have alot of them - see my desktop compo entry), and i also enjoyed Disturbia with Shia, though i feel we're in the minority judging by the low sales of the DVD. And Bad Boys was a classic, forgot Bay directed that!
I have yet to see it, but friends say it was alright. I'm just glad Soundwave is in it, although not with his classic vocoder'd accent!
Whenever I see Shia LeBouf I think of Holes, which was great in both book and film form. Disturbia was a tad generic but watchable I guess. I think I saw it because I was working in a cinema at the time and got to see any film for free

I think Shia's best is Holes, most anything else I've seen him in I hate him I enjoyed his performance in that new Indiana Jones, even though it wasn't a very good movie :/
If I were going to see the new Transformers, it'd be for robots pummeling each other, but I don't think it looked that good in the first one. The action seemed really messy to me. Everything else about the movie was just bad.
I'll wait for it to come out on showtime or something. If I had money to go to a movie, I'd definitely be going to see Year One.
The new Indy movie... *shudder* It's such a shame that most new films nowadays are either mediocre remakes of classic films, mediocre remakes of mediocre films, or sequels. On the other hand there is Star Trek and The Hangover, so there's hope yet.

Though I was very frustrated that they destroyed Vulcan. I guess it is an alternate timeline and all... but if that's so it seems like a waste of time. Like one of those paradox episodes where everything is reset at the end.
Star trek was great, though i too felt slightly miffed that Vulcan had been destroyed. However, i do like the idea of an alternate timeline and gives a good reason as to why future films won't stay too faithful to the old series (which i dislike anyways!). Can't see them doing another Next gen film though, not after the way the last film left everyone leaving for different ships/futures away from each other
I've never been a huge Trek fan, my allegiances always lay with Star Wars more, but I enjoyed the new film. More so than I did SW Episode II, even. Joe Loves Crappy Movies summed it up perfectly:
Just saw Revenge of the Fallen, and I must say I preferred it hell of a lot to the first movie. I can't stand the cheesey crap they put in action films for the kids/chavs though, like the twin bots acting stupid and the simple jokes. The end battle was pretty epic, though.
Can't stand LaBeouf, sounds like his voice is breaking and he's trying to do a deep voice.
