How about something that is easy to make in 99 minutes?
Anything too challenging in 99 minutes will have you left with an unfinished game.
So, how about Arcade style games? maybe it that can be pretty much anything but it is based around a high score and gameplay is the most important aspect of judging? Not necessarily a mini game but a game designed for short bursts of play and better players can get further. Possibly with a an option to insert credits.
Does 99 minutes include gfx or will we be allowed to use some from our other projects?
Same question goes for the coding. Could we copy/paste some events we worked on before or does it need to be made from scratch?
I'm utterly confused as to the start time, though I'm interested to take part if it's a decent time for me. It's already past 12'noon August 23rd for me
Anyway, this looks like it's at 3am in the morning for my timezone?
It is 0 days, 13 hours, 58 minutes and 6 seconds until Sunday, August 23, 2009 at 12:00:00 Noon (Denver time)
Right now it's 2pm. Yes, it's 3am in the morning for me. I don't think I can participate.

Yes I shall most likey enter and I shall try and get my girlfriend to try and help out. (Be her first kilk game). I'll be more sure nearer the time, but 80% chance I'll be in.
Theme?: Umm something old, like something you would see on a Spectrum/C64. Or a classic styled game, like Space Invaders/SHMUPS/Platformers like DK. Blah blah, something simple and retro?
Retro is so overdone. I'd say you do something based on a random ad on a MMO site, announced at the time the competition starts
Disclaimer: Any sarcasm in my posts will not be mentioned as that would ruin the purpose. It is assumed that the reader is intelligent enough to tell the difference between what is sarcasm and what is not.
I think everyone tires of the 'retro' thing quickly. It's also a good excuse to make a poorly coded/drawn game too
Perhaps a random object should be selected as a 'theme' ingredient, it must be included as a major part of the game in whichever way the creator chooses.
For example, if you said "watermelon", someone could create a game where you shoot watermelons from a gun, or you collect them, or the world is made of them, or your goal is to destroy them. Might be interesting, I don't know.
Alright Everyone! Most of us are in Gwerdy, so join up if you want to chat.
Your theme is this :
To Finish your Game and to include a teddy bear in your game somewhere. That is all!
Once time is up (I'll post here) you'll have 10 minutes to get your game uploaded. After that, I'll post again. Everyone who enters gets two votes. You cannot vote for your own game.
Finished!
I present you URBAN BLUE TEDDY-KOALA, a game where a lonely Blue Teddy-Koala explores it's inner self in a romantic/psychologic adventure. With pictures of cities at night! Contains high-quality Google-rip graphics and music made by MAZ, not in for this compo and not in 99 minutes though.
