So - what decent cheapish games are there out there? I'm hardly flush with money so I don't want to be spending £40 for one game - so what classics are out there that I can pick up for £20 or less. I've ordered Little Big Planet already as that's a given. FIFA 10 comes with my bundle too, but I'd like maybe two or three more games to be going along with until Christmas comes or I find a job (not going to even guess which will come first).
you should of bought a Xbox 360 Most of the members on the daily click have xbox 360 gamertags. It also has good games such as Halo 3, Halo 3 ODST, Call of Duty WaW (yes i know that's on the PS3 as well), Gears of War 2, Saints Row 2, etc.
I hear that "Dark Cloud 3" is in the makes for the PS3. If it actually comes out, I would be jealous of a PS3 then. Right now I'll stick to my Xbox 360 and my PS2
Uncharted: Drakes Fortune
Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction
Killzone 2
Gran Turismo 5: Prologue
Metal Gear Solid 4
InFamous
Resistance 1 & 2
All of the above are worth buying in my opinion - and should be less than £40. There are a lot of games on the PSN that are worth downloading too - Flower, Pixeljunk Monsters + Eden, Burnout Paradise, Crash Commando, Fat Princess .etc all of which are less than £15.

Oh yeh, I forgot to mention, I'm not a big fan of shooters, especially of the first person kind (although I do like the odd two-hour session of MGS). So those games I couldn't give a damn about anyway. Especially Saints Row, which looks just stupid to me.
Definitely thinking about MGS4, depending on price. I can get GT5P for under a tenner off Play.com so I might get that. This Infamous game looks decent as well - it's a possibility.
By the way Flava, is that like a PS3 signature I see under your post? If I typed in 'Flava18' would I be able to play you at stuff?
I'm not really keen on the exclusives for either 360 or PS3, but Infamous is definitely one of the best games on the system. GT5P for a tenner is good. It's 6 tracks and 80 (IIRC) cars so it's not exactly bursting with content.
Motorstorms a good arcade racer if you can get that cheap.
PSN is a money trap.

Yep you can add me to your friends list - my username is Flava18. Though I'm at university at the moment so don't really play online much.
MGS4 is worth getting so long as you're an MGS fan - if you haven't played MGS before then it's probably not a good idea to buy it (there is a demo on PSN so you can try it out first though).
I'd say Uncharted is a must-buy. It has the best characters, storyline, motion capture, graphics and voice acting in a game that I've ever played. The gameplay is basically you're generic third person shooter - but everything else makes it so worthwhile (it's the only game to convince me that gameplay isn't the most important thing in a game) You can probably get that for cheap as well.
To such statements would suggest that the Wii actually had more than a few good games, which it doesn't.
I dunno about that. The problem is the lack of good new games. I think the last game I bought was Brawl, which was over a year ago. New Mario Wii looks good and I'll definitely be getting Mario Galaxy 2 and any potential F-Zero. Typical Nintendo dry season . To say they have at least 6 internal studios and quite a few more 2nd party ones and have such minimal output is a little bad.
The Wii does have games that I want to play (Mario Galaxy, Zelda, Brawl, Metroid .etc) - but not really enough for me to actually buy a Wii (my friend has one, so I basically just play the games on his )
Have to say, Red Steel 2 looks pretty awesome - it looks like how they promised the first game would be. Can't wait to try it out
Boot-ham: get MGS4, it's the finest game of this generation, particularly if you grew up with the series. It hits all the best nostalgia buttons and then some.
GTA IV should be relatively cheap by now...and it's worth hunting for a second hand copy of Valkyria Chronicles.
I can't recommend any since I haven't played a single one. Shame you sold the Wii. As much as I get frustrated with it's lack of promise, I think I'd regret selling it for the few really great games that do appear.
Yeah the jak series ain't over. I'm looking forward to the new ps2 one. I think it comes out next month. Still, looking at the graphics in uncharted, it makes me reaaaally want a ps3 jak game.

Yeh, but as I said, my bedroom isn't big enough for me to sit back far enough to play the Wii, and there'd be no room for swinging a remote or anything - and I'd never get chance to set it up downstairs, such is my parents love for Sky telly. I liked a lot of things about the Wii, its ease of use, its fun, but I got frustrated about all the cool games that were coming out on the Xbox and PS3, whilst Wii's games seemed mostly to be minigame compilations (MASSIVE GENERALISATION).
"my bedroom isn't big enough for me to sit back far enough to play the Wii"
I sit about a two metres from my TV when playing on the Wii. Ive never swung around or needed space to play, it's not really necessary unless you're playing on wii fit.
I've never actually tried this out, but I use Netflix and I love it to death. Gamefly? You basically rent games and have them shipped to you in a couple of days. Pay monthly for it, but if it's anything like Netflix, it's worth it.
I still need to play Little Big Planet. The friend I'm staying with now has a Playstation 3 and I can't say that I really like it all that much. The dashboard is magnificent; a work of art. The only problem I really have though is that the whole thing just feels isolated and lonely. I mean you boot up the Xbox 360 and assuming you're connected to Live, the whole thing just feels so open and alive. I'd still like to own a Playstation 3 in the near future, but I'm content with my X360.
Anyway, so yeah... as soon as I hear:
Xbox 360 - I think Halo 3 or Gears of War Wii - Super Smash Bros Brawl or Mario Galaxy Playstation 3 - Little Big Planet or Metal Gear Solid 4.
Brandon's idea of renting titles is a good idea. I have just had a month's free trial from LoveFilm.com and I've been playing Infamous on my ps3 all month. The cheapest option with them is just less than £4 a month which is pretty impressive.
Btw Boothman I recommend MGS4, GTA4 and Infamous; I'm not a fan of FPS' either, prefer 3rd person adventures. Prince of persia is quite a cool game albeit a bit short.
Do you have a PSN ID yet? Mine is tickletube if you wanna add me
Check out Wipeout HD on PS Store, it's awesome if you're into futuristic racers
The Ratchet & Clank games if you like platformers
Uncharted has already been mentioned several times, it's an awesome game
Soul Calibur 4 if you're into fighting games

By the time that happens he would already have played a dozen or so good PS3 games that he'd otherwise have missed

- Ok, you must admit that was the most creative cussing this site have ever seen -

I've been using LoveFilm.com for the last couple of month (purely for games) and have to say that their service is worth it. You get to play the games for as long as you want, and it's a hell of a lot cheaper than buying the games for yourself.
Ive got one of the later 60gb models and some ps2 games aren't supported although Jak and Daxter is the only game ive seen that wont even load. Performance wise they're perfectly smooth but apparently some have glitches.
Also psone emulation isn't perfect. I started playing through FF7 and some of the sound effects were really off.
